What if we actually ARE Kris' soul and have been controlling/messing around with stuff for years before the events of Deltarune took place, just off screen? Why would Kris go from playing with Noelle and having fun and being a dumb kid to suddenly stiffening up like a corpse to then fuck off and play piano unless he suddenly regained control of his own body and went to do something else for her instead?

The Ice Palace creeps the hell out of me.
