>>713181386I frame my player-created character as a version of myself born into the game world. He's idealised in the sense that he's usually stronger, braver, or otherwise cooler than me. I view character creators as vectors for me to insert myself into a game world. I'm capable of dissociating and roleplaying as original characters of my own creation, but I prefer to play as someone who looks like me and acts in ways I myself would act were I in his position. Usually, in games with set protagonists that also have dialogue options (or some other way to affect how the MC acts/is perceived), I make choices I myself would make so that the protagonist more closely aligns with my values.
