We have been subjected to the same rehashed "Mario rescues Peach from Bowser" plot over and over with no resolution in sight. We were teased with a climactic ending in Super Mario Odyssey, but instead got Peach rejecting Mario and a cliffhanger.

Also, Super Mario Odyssey probably started "a new romance" between Mario and Pauline.
