So 300 village plus alch buff had the desperado do 85 damage while wanderer alone only allowed him to do 37 damage. As a control the base, the 0-0-0 desperado does 30 damage to the test balloon.
So the upgrade in attack speed is minimal for base level.

As an aside, look how much ranged the Desperado's ability gives.

What can be done to make top path not shit?
The other two paths have solid ideas (Ranged marksman that hunts valuable targets and "Come near me and I'll fuck your shit up" shotgun), but the burst of attack with low damage isn't that great, especially when you need to edge the monkey I did that on purpose by the way to get any use out of it. Elite Defender does the job better by far.

I really hate just how much negation there is in the game for a roguelike.
Lead, purple, zebra, moab, camo, camo lead, camo purple, dreadbloon entire archetypes and lead AND flat damage reduction, Blastopalous purple immunity, camo boss...
It's just shit design for a roguelike. Yes, you can counter all those things, but god it sucks a fucking lot.
Dreadbloon and Blast in particular. Yeah you're meant to go for variance and such but... it just isn't fun.
Honestly it's probably just plain too hard to be able to experiment with things, and these flat out damage negations don't help.
It's kind of shit honestly. I can sort of get what it's going for, but I'm just not having fun with it.

And if you're going a magic build, early blast is pure shit.
The fact mentoring is absolutely necessary but irreversible without a second copy of that monkey means you might be committing to an upgrade that's can't even hit blast.

And there are way more problems than just those two, they're just top of my head at the minute after a few recent runs. I just don't like this design of outright immunities, and having to pick between recruitment and mentoring, both of which are mandatory. Then it actively punishes you for longer routes by forcing skips on shit maps, or just plain making it way harder.

I don't normally think I'm such a bitch, I've got a number of chimps medals under my belt solo and co-op, but I'm struggling with rogue legends a ton. I can't tell if it's shit design or too hard, but I'm thinking it's both.

I was wondering why the fuck it was that my cannon tower dealt no damage but I shrugged it off and won with Special Poperation doing like +6 million pops followed by Bloon Solver with 2 million pops and the rest as utility towers like embrittle and MOAB stunning even though these dealt no damage.

Growth farm.
Takes about 40 minutes, maybe an hour.
You get to round 76, you set a 030 helicopter in some good spot and a 042 glue gunner set to first, they'll keep the regrows looped around the heli, and then you set a strong tower at the end of the track to kill the ones that get through to farm pops.
You can keep track of the pops by clicking on the locked tower.

top path sentries scale pretty well with rounds, getting sprockets is a huge damage increase, and the buffs to Sentry Expert make it actually usable now instead of it spamming 0 damage ice sentries against moabs like it used to. Sentry engineer does really well with attack speed buffs since he tosses out sentries faster and all the sentries get his buffs too, so technically a 20% speed increase is more like a 30% damage increase
middle path cleansing foam is a fucking garbage piece of shit decamo/delead option because the foam gets used up when normal bloons cross over it so it's hardly ever useful since camo and leads always appear alongside regular bloons. Overclock is nice, but for $15,000 you really should be buying some other better tower first.
bottom path oversize nails, pin, double gun are all super good down a straight line, real solid choice for cheap early game bloon popping/stalling power. Bloon Trap is a great income generator and instakilling a couple ceramics is always nice, but scales terribly once moabs start coming out, and XXXL trap is hard to save into since you're going to need other towers for moab popping before you can afford it, but it becomes one of the best blimp killers, and then again becomes useless once BADs start coming out.

Okay just tested it and it's pretty much what I said. If no bloons are in range, it tries to place spikes as early into the track as possible (this is garbage imo)
Then the moment bloons are in range, it tries to aim at the one furthest along the track. You have to keep in mind the vision of the tower, no bloons in its vision even if they are in the track means it will still shoot towards the earliest part of the track it can do.

The shorter the map the harder it is to time it properly to get "the most" bloons marked before they disappear into the grinder or are replaced by MOABs.
