I never call it the PSX. I've always called it the PS1 but apparently some people have a beef with that because there is a PSOne as well. So I guess Americans should just call it PS.

Yes PS1 is retro today. That 2006 AVGN video of James playing a NES game was considered retro then, the time gap of current year and the PS1 is larger than what happened in 2006.
