>>713214335 (OP)The first game is better
it has less but it feels more complete, well made and to its fullest potential. The early game combat is ass but it gets completely superseded by the movement eventually, while the escape sequences, final level, etc felt excellent. While in 2 the combat becomes too easy even on Hard difficulty, has too many silly flaws and balance issues all around (shards/healing/3 slots/etc), that sort of shit, while the bosses just outright underuse the potential of Ori's moveset, & most escape sequences were briefer.
Ori 2's best escape sequence (sandworm) was on par with the sequences from Ori 1, if not in many ways better. But then it obnoxiously overtuned on release, and the developers nerfed it into being extremely undertuned as a kneejerk reaction, which really took away its tension
O1 also unironically feels more complete and interconnected despite being a shorter game. When i finished it i felt like at a fitting end for the adventure, in 2 you can feel the cut content up the ass
I also genuinely believe the second game is uglier. It has such an excessive DoF blur all over the game that cant be turned off, and even without it via modding, many of the backgrounds are just not as rich and detailed. The higher budget graphics didnt pair well with the higher frequency of poor spots, gaps, and rushed rooms that stick out like a sore thumb
Last but not least the most infamous part, the story. I actually believe the ending in isolation is pure lvdokino but everything preceding it felt really weak
At least that sword is real fucking cool
