How would you redesign this failed VN protagonist?
This is TJ from the dating sim Sisters of Cheyenne High.
His game flopped harden then Lehman Brothers in the 00s , netted a total of 50(fifty) bucks and ends up being cancelled.
How would you make this guy more appealing to the modern audience? I'd like /v/ to try making him an actual good character.

First thing I'd do is give him a stronger personality hook. Right now he just looks like every other moody anime sideboy with a bad haircut. Make him stand out—maybe he's obsessed with old VHS trash horror movies, or he uses tarot cards but is hilariously bad at reading them. Something weird but memorable. Also, ditch the bland school uniform and give him a fashion style—like 90s mall goth meets cheap cologne Chad energy. That way he leans into being delightfully cringe instead of terminally forgettable.
And yeah, redesign him visually. Right now he walks the line between "mysterious love interest" and "background NPC that dies offscreen." Make a call and commit.

Give him a defining trait other than "androgynous," and make him try to capture an aesthetic (or "vibe," as the kids say).
Character tropes such as the badass biker with a leather coat, the big-titted ara-ara~ MILF (blood related), and the cheeky brat with bandages on their legs? All easily identifiable, and you know exactly what you're fucking getting when you see them.
With the character your posted as OP? I can't even tell if it's a guy or girl, and there is not a single thing identifying feature about him, unless you want to somehow count bandages as a character feature. He's just a person, and while having "just a person" as your protagonist might be okay in some games, characters are all that a VN has.
Can't tell a good story without good characters, and if the pillar upon which your story is supposed to stand is made out of Chinese concrete? Gg go next

Oh its been a while since i was a thread of this. I always thought it was the person behind this massive flop trying to get feedback to try again because it there were threads every fucking day. Anyway i said it before and i'll say it again, he looks like someone you want to beat up, doesnt help that his backstory is that he had a mental breakdown and probably tried to an hero himself and its based on one of the best examples of why SCP went to shit
