Because PC gaming is expensive and they don't have the money to build a PC that could run games at higher resolutions. That's also why consoles never really went away despite going up in price.

Because I have 1080p144hz
What is anything higher gonna do? Make it harder to find appropriately sized wallpapers? Tank performance so I can see Papers Please in 8k ultra HD?

Anon, I have hobbies outside of video games and other things I could be putting my money towards by saving. You're not going to convince me to buy something I don't need, so I suggest you start figuring out ways to cope with that.

i'm assuming it's pretty based for high fps these days but I've been a 1440p anon for quite a few years now
any higher than that seems like kinda a meme to me, I tried 4k for a bit, it is noticeable but nowhere near the jump between 1080 and 1440. We've definitely reached a bit of a wall

1080p is the way to go at this point
1440p was great and attainable before ue5 and overpriced gpus
4k is in an even worse spot now, real 4k is even further out of reach while fake upscaling is literally everywhere. There's next to no real 4k media out there, you're getting scammed by anything advertising 4k. God help us when sony finally pushes their "8k" tvs out with the ps6
