Gameplay wise, like current FF7R with less padding.
>Ability to swap character mid-battle, at the cost of full ATB, but is limited ofc.
Basically 7R ATB is very versatile and it can still evolve beyond the current implementation.
Also better dodge and parrying, maybe even group parrying like E33.
Serious tone but not XVI edgy.

>The sanctuarys now give you flashbacks about the old kings and how they dealt with the plague, once you get to Somnus you discover the whole truth about Ardyn's past and the destiny that Bahamut gave him
>Add multiple endings with all being based on the decisions you made and how much of the game you have completed
>Turn it into a turn based rpg or a "tales of" arpg
>Give the guys actual designs instead of looking like a 00's boy band

There's around 200 things I would fix about this game to get it to be decent

I make Dragon Age but set in space so it's RTW"P" but some abilities and skills manipulates the "pause", like how some enemies can only move during paused time, some abilities lock you out of pause, pausing is how you cast some abilities, etc. Basically, it's not a pause but more of a separate "action mode".

As long as the finale of it is him finally escaping The Void once and for all, finding himself back in FF5, and challenging an Older Butz to their fated duel (which can then be a postgame superboss).
Just have him accidentally drag another Gilgamesh into The Void to keep the cycle alive. Everybody loves a good mirror match boss fight.

Make a male Mc and 4 girls to follow him almost like FF5 introduce a good crafting mechanic with resource gathering and dating no city management cuz that garbage sucks turn based with a job system full on anime style with decent graphics no half assed semi realism the story is classic fantasy with a twist no dark fantasy stuff. Also different jobs and weapons the jobs have uses outside of combat. Decent mini games and fishing also you can marry the girl you choose.

I think FF11 crossing over with FF14 was a step in this direction, FF11 is in such a weird spot because I feel like they want to take it down but too many people are both subbed and engaging with the mtx to justify that.

I don't think they'll ever engage with it seriously though because, even in the most accessible state its ever been in, it is stil the hardest final fantasy game ever made and it's not even close.

They should grow out of their own genre and not in the fake corporate-edgy 16 way.
Degamify their system - make battles feel like an in-universe ordeal. At no point there should be the feeling that your team can mow enemies by the thousands. Make healing rare and difficult to get, wounds received carry on as more than a numerical HP loss, magic should be extraordinarily rare and useful, both in gamelord and combat - give weight to combat by being faithful to the idea that even if you're fighting a mook with a gun, you are reasonably at risk of getting killed.

real game is still turning a profit, and id say the current director is also pushing against the shutdown, but it definitely only lives because of players and such a rare case for such an old game.

>attempt to make the gameplay and story both engaging, in development NUKE anything that gives the feeling of oblivion or indifference to players like grindy boring fights or long wordy dialogue
>discuss the setting with the team for a bit but generally try to avoid European or medieval fantasy settings since they're a bit overused and stale, some elements from them are fine though

>dabble with the idea of making the player character a complete self insert. in the sense that he's a magic being that was summoned to save the world and will die upon completing his mission. if that is the case make the protag's design something like a black silhouette and make the gameplay highly customizable
>if that is not plausible the main plan is to make the protagonist character a teen girl who has the potential to destroy the world and is shunned/hunted for it
>i want to avoid making the hero a random rank and file soldier or adventurer
>add alot of emphasis on unique equipment abilities and avoid having equipment be used solely for stats
>generally avoid having stats be the lone/main deciding factor
