Apparently roguelikes are really fucking cool and I've been sleeping on this genre like a complete asshole. What are the best of the best of the best roguelikes?

>>713242589 (OP) Balatro. Stay away from Slay the Spire. About 99% of its cards are either extremely weak or have unusable conditions, I've no idea how it gained popularity
>>713242720 Smb is not the first platformer, but it is the first good one. Rogue is also the first good roguelike, no one is recommending you play dnd (75).

For DCSS and CDDA, try and find a branch that isn't completely skimmed down (DCSS) or bloated with tranny furry content (CDDA)

Vampire Survivors and Balatro are the only two I’ve ever liked. Although, Balatro made my brain feel like it was going to explode so idk if I really *enjoyed* it or just was severely addicted to it. Vampire Survivors was awesome though.

>>713243138 StS mods are really fun, but the basegame is pretty boring. I like VUPShion and going through the Library of Ruina one with mod characters personally.
>>713243631 I didn't play Elin yet but I liked Elona. It was a non-permadeath roguelike which I really appreciate and it had some survival elements and life sim elements too.

>>713242589 (OP) Roguelikes/lites suck ass. They are all bare bones, repetitive, and are just a lazy/easy, way to turn 3 or 4 levels into a 50 hour game. The worst ones are the ones that completely limit your character via "meta progression" so that you can't possibly beat the game until you grind out the arbitrary "progression" perks first. What a shit genre for absolute retards.
