>>713248438>It's harder to balance your buildsImo this in itself is the major flaw of Hades 2. You're encouraged to minmax, to go all or nothing in your builds-and the bosses are turned into damage sponges with Touhou game-like attack spread to compensate. This is especially noticeable if you do the Rival stuff for the Testimony of Night. You pick the Charon axe, the Supay torches, or you fucking die because the final boss smashes the entire screen at once while you're trying to figure out some kind of clever combo attack with your finicky weapon.
With Hades 1, even on Extreme Measures although some weapons felt noticeably stronger or more intuitive than others, it felt more like you had a fair shot no matter what you brought. With Hades 2, people complained about having to play it with "bitch tactics" but I honestly think the intent of how it's set up IS to encourage bitch tactics. You're SUPPOSED to smash Typhon with your strongest attacks before he can whittle you down with light attacks. You're SUPPOSED to run the fuck away from Rival Chronos. You're SUPPOSED to abuse the moon powers briefly letting damage over time-effects persist while both you and the enemy are locked in place. Because doing anything less, trying to attack the foes directly, gets you brutally punished. And to add insult to injury the game frequently tries to limit your range of motion by transforming Meli into a harmless form or limiting range of motion in an arena, as if to punish you for not taking every opportunity.

Even the torches, undisputably the second strongest weapon with the new Aspect, only feel so powerful because they do all the fighting for you while you adjust their range and output.
