I have a portable AC unit I get out for the 4-5 days a year this is an issue in the UK. It sounds like a jet engine but it does the job.

Unless you have a 20 year old unit, inverter heating is exactly as efficient as cooling, since it's literally the AC working backwards. Yes I know there is a minimal difference in practice as the outside/inside temps are not as efficient as in winter but it's, well, minimal.
