Co-lead writer of Bloodlines 2 has departed the studio to work on her novel. She has indicated that the game is finished, and her services aren't needed anymore. The game is in the polish stage currently. It was initially delayed from 2024 to 2025 in order to do rewrites on the story and make changes to the core design based on audience feedback and internal review. The delay from June-ish 2025 to October 2025 was entirely because the game was too buggy and unpolished.

That she joined TCR to work on Bloodlines 2 (she came from the Hogwarts Legacy team, I think), but she has interests elsewhere she is pursuing. Also, it means that whatever DLC is planned for the game has already been written.

I'm far more alarmed about the fact Dan Pinchbeck isn't at the studio anymore, because there is a STARK drop in writing quality between the main game, which he wrote, and the DLC, which he didn't write. It's not clear how much of his work has survived in SWTD because the game has gone through some major writing changes, and he was already offloading a lot of work to Sarah Longthorne.

Apparently there is going to be some kind of announcement about The Chinese Room and their future in "the coming weeks".
