I'm so tired of this "Souls killed action games myth". Souls didn't start really taking off in popularity until 2015. Meanwhile:

>Bayonetta moved to a console with very few people interested in action games

Action games, since the 8bit sprite era, have not changed. You play as a glass cannon who dies in a few hits and the boss has a mile long healthbar to inflate the playtime despite having just a few interactions that get repeated over and over again.
