then do whatever the fuck you want and stop caring about what other people think, assuming you're talking about single player games. play easy mode, use save states, let yourself have a good time and enjoy yourself. this means you're knowingly putting yourself out of the conversation but this should be something you can handle.
if you're talking about multiplayer games, theres is nothing you can do about group consensus so if you're not happy with what the generally expected attittude is in a particular multiplayer video game, and there are no dedicated groups of people to join who play it in a way you prefer, you have to accept that game isn't for you.

I mean if there's a thread here of people talking about say bayonetta, and we're all discussing different weapon set ups and how we struggled or not against particular bosses, and then someone pops in and says this game was really easy by the way I used items and played on very easy, there is now a huge disconnect between him and everyone else in the thread, not just in the vastly different experience he had from everyone else but also in what they all want from the game and whether or not they intend to keep improving. there's nothing wrong in him enjoying playing that way at all, and at the same time, he must surely have the self awareness - and still there's nothing with this - to know that he had a very different experience from everyone else so he can't really join or understand their conversation outside of elements like the soundtrack and the graphics. do you think there's anything wrong with what I'm saying here honestly?

fair enough but I mean what he's saying and his experiences will be so different from everyone else that after being asked some questions and with a little prying, it will quickly become apparent and/or he will 'reveal' (again, there's nothing wrong with this in my opinion) that he was in fact playing on very easy.
for example, he may pop into the thread and say 'oh yeah I really enjoyed the game', and on the topic of everyone discussing a boss they all struggled on, he may say oh he didn't find him a struggle at all he beat him on the first try, which will lead to questions, and this will just naturally as a complete truism unravel that he's not on the same page as everyone else. it's just not possible that he could partake in the conversation without standing out.

I really disagree and don't know how else to make my point. we might just have different ideas of what I mean by the conversation. another kind of conversation to imagine might be how people who have played kingdom hearts II FM on a level 1 run actually know all the movesets of each enemy and each boss and different methods to go against them, but most people probably never noticed them at all and just mashed X and triangle when it pops up, they did play the same game but they couldn't have the same conversation about the boss fights and enemies at all.
