Fighting games are like men and fighting game players are like women. CotW got no bitches because it came across as cheap and desperate. Like a middle class nobody who rents a Lambo and orders a thousand dollar bottle of champagne at the club, it tried to draw in idiots with the illusion of prestige. Look, we were able to afford Ronaldo. Look, we did a commercial with that melanin-enriched individual iShowSpeed. This is an EVENT. The Saudis are bribing people to play their game, which comes across as insecure - an admission that their game isn't worth playing.

Meanwhile, Tekken 8 has it right. Tekken lied to an abused its players with season 2, and what happened? Oh, I'm quitting. I'm playing Street Fighter 6. This is the worst patch in fighting game history. Wrong, bitch - you're coming crawling back because Armor King is here. You know I love you, baby. I got you your favorite character and, as a treat, more health. Look, I'm a changed fighting game, I promise. Nobody actually quit Tekken 8.

As for Street Fighter 6, it's just what CotW wishes it was: clout, the game.

They all suck and they're all copying each other which leads to further sucking

The good modern fighting games in order were SSF4 (ruined by Ultra), UMvC3, MKX (the only good Mortal Kombat), and Dragonball FighterZ (ruined by Bamco patches). Everything since then has been trash, with a valiant but ultimately failed effort by Strive to not suck.

Maybe Marvel Tokon can break the streak of dog shit fighters but I doubt it.

I'm not at all expert in fighting game, but not a total noob either (like Diamond in SF/celestial in strive, it isn't much but I consider myself above mindless button mashing at least). Never played snk game before.

Anyway, I tried FF and got completely demolished. The player base feels like there's no middle groun, like you either have people that never played a fg, or the people that played SNK title daily for the last 30 years. I just dropped it because i didn't like the game that much to dedicate that much time on it to progress.

Modern fighters are also designed for comebacks/upsets specifically to have steamer "moments".
A lot of this stems from SF4's ultra mechanic which is built purely by taking damage.

Mark of the Wolves was an ordinary fighting game that was memed to hell and back as a great fighting game.

it didnt do anything special actually and was only kinda liked as a continuation of the FF/AOF story

and the new game still brought back the legacy characters instead of their expy like in the MOW game

The primary appeal of fighters are the characters. SNK's 3D models have always been crap. Their character designs used to be great but every recent character they've added to KoF and FF are eye cancer. They should just outsource that stuff to Korea.
