I don't know if i can beat this game, i'm getting too tilted.

Everything is crazy fast, every boss is ready to switch up on you and one hit kill you, loot management is awful, and that's on a first playthrough. Shit, i'm 20 hours deep and i'm only still in the "Falling Snow" mission, which is 8 out 20 missions.

Should i just put my tail between my legs and drop it? I think no Souls game has fucked me in the ass harder than Nioh, Souls game have so many ways to cheese a boss fight, summons also make the game easier etc.

Have to hand it to Team Ninja, i haven't found one boss battle thus far that can be beaten in a dishonest way (like shooting arrows at him from outside the battle area, making him fall through a ledge, abusing his AI to lock him in place or some shit like that).
Most strat videos for shit like speedrunners are just them beating the game in a honest way, they just use a good weapon and elemental damage against a boss - at least from the few i've seen.

Bro keep this thread alive and I'll be back in like 20 minutes to help
Or remake it in 20 minutes

If you haven't, do as many of the way of X missions as you can, including magic and ninjutsu since they will massively let you break the game

That's because Nioh gameplay isn't Souls' gameplay
Don't play Nioh like a Souls game

Nioh is just a hard as fuck souls type. I managed to beat the base game but it was extremely brutal and i straight up got filtered by the DLC. I couldn't beat maria no matter how hard i tried so i had to give up on the game.
Cool game though, wish i was better at it so i could play nioh 2 but not even going to bother if i literally couldn't beat the first one's DLC.

You can do it, OP. The game may seem fast at first if you're used to slower paced games but you'll adapt eventually and it will click.
I remember when I first picked up Nioh I had trouble with Ginchiyo's husband, he was faster than I was used to and had trouble reacting in time, but I kept trying and eventually I learned to work at that speed and went on to beat the rest of the game without a hitch.

What build are you using? There's a bunch of stuff you can do to increase your survivability

Nioh 1 does have some exploits like iai loops against humanoids, but this is tame compared to the wild shit you can do in souls games.
Stop sweating over loot management. Block a lot. Get 200 toughness but don't go over 70% equip load. Distribute stats evenly.

All my stats are at minimum 10, now i'm trying to raise Stamina to 20. I've been using Odachi and Swords mostly, and i just try to update my armor for the best thing in my inventory, since it's hard to go through every single piece of equipment and filter through all the atributes.

I'm back
What weapon?
You should be able to do all the 'adept' master missions by now since you've done some missions

Also what specifically are you having issues with? Nioh is, after a few missions, fundementally even more broken than pretty much 99% of shit in Souls games outside of actual glitches and the meme shieldpoke build

All I will say is, do not rely on sloth in the magic or blinding powder in ninjtusu as at higher difficulties these do not last long

Blinding powder is neat to get a few seconds to heal up safely

Are you looking for 'honest' or 'abuse the shit out of the ai' help?

it's not souls since a requirement of souls is for the gameplay to be simple enough for the average casual to grasp their head around it.
not even master, as plenty of people avoid parrying in lies of P or shield their way through souls.
I think this distinction helps.

I wanna abuse the shit out of the AI, lmao. I get too stressed out with this shit, if i can break the game i'm breaking it. lol

I'm using Odachi/Swords, i've done all the adept missions, i'm not sure. All i do before a boss battle is use some talisma to increase defense, item to increase attack power, and something to debuff the boss. One thing that bothers me quite a bit, if i'm being honest, is that the living weapon thing takes some time for you refill, so there's some downtime inbetweeen atempts because i always wanna have that option, specially towards the end when i'm seeing red and i wanna finish the boss.

You won't abuse the AI, really
It's not exactly that sort game. You can do some things that will help, tho
Ninjutsu builds (kunai/shuriken spam) will for the most part, wreckany yokai or human who can't block and then the earth mines can be used for most humans IIRC to knock down enemies to do a final blow on them or also spam kunai
And you will want to farm for the iga-ronin set, just two parts since after LW it restores some uses of ninjutsu

That all said, 2kat are pretty much the 'basic bitch easy mode' imo. It has a few key moves
sign of the cross is your 'I need a big damage move', shrike (won't have it yet) is your parry (optional but will destroy most humans that can be parried), watersword is your boss move (for yokai) to spam when they're out of ki, windstorm (on the same buttons as Watersword) is your 'I'm travelling the mission skill' and sometimes useful against human bosses, it's got decent aoe and is good at stunning enemies you anticipate coming at you (and great for small yokai like dwellers to stun), god of wind (if you get the timing down for the 3rd part great but no major issue if you don't) is your ki drainer and then moon shadow (or whatever the fuck it is) does the same for blocking humans

Odachi yu can sort of facetank with groundquake but not that reliable

Up next? facetank build

Spirit stones give you amrita gauge in addition to souls, I don't remember if there are easy spirit stone farm sidemissions in the game or not.
You can also get extraction talisman and pleiades talisman to help with that. You should maybe use a guardian spirit that builds up quickly too since all of them have different building speeds. Saoirse before the DLC is very good at that with her guardian spirit skill, but that's a while.

I have played all the Souls game except Bloodborne. I have also played Nioh 1, 2, Wo Long and Rise of the Ronin. Team Ninja achieves a more satisfying gameplay in combat than souls. I can't really explain why but I find TN games way more fun and satisfying than Souls where every encounter is a choir for me. From can have better world building, story, characters and progression but they cannot beat the action paced gameplay of TN games.

Also TN games are action games with some rpg elements and From are mostly action rpg. They do not compare in the same category.

The difficulty of the Nioh games is really fucking weird. They can be impossible or a pushover depending on what weapons and elements you use.

Nioh 1 is generally pretty broken by High Stance kusarigama and earth element.

Guardian spirit is Fuse-Ushi gotten from region one's main mission as it has guard ki damage reduction (your ki goes down less when you block)
In onmyo magic, take rejuvination and oasis talimans for more healing
In ninjutsu just take the quick change scroll

For other quipment, anything that has life recovery on anima/skill is very useful
It's not as face tanky as Nioh 2 but it'll work for the most part

I didn't even get into basic shit like ki pulsing, fluxing regularly, sacred water, donating like 99% of your equipment, only going for 10 -> 15 -> 20 in Body/Endurance and putting in stats elsewhere for armor/magic/ninjutsu/spirit requirements

>>713294347
Wouldn't really say it's about elements or even weapons
It's more about understanding that being aggressive is not a bad thing and while yes, you might get your guard broken, you can recover fast enough to keep guarding and that playing it like souls slop (panic rollig) isn't good. It's also the most 'fair' in that Nioh gives the enemies the same basic sort of mechanics, you can destroy any human by draining thier ki, yokai, while it willl recover, can drain their ki too, etc. And it does give you a shitload of buffs/debuffs too. I did Nioh 2 literally with just gace tanking everything when I was like mission 4 after getting some decent magic. Apart from the owl. For that I respecced to ninjutsu and just shit out shurikens/kunai

Don't wanna spend £40 on it.
Even with it on deal for £30 I still don't wanna spend money.

>>713297147
I picked up on recent sale for £30, that's why I'm playing now. Also mostly in anticipation of nioh 3 which is why I bought a new high end pc since I know the optimisation will be poop. My only big criticism is I wish ronin had more encounters more frequently but thats just a pitfall of doing open world slop. I hope nioh 3 doesn't do this and we get tons of encounters like in 2. I really like the period of ronin, not many games take advantage of 1800s Japan. The combat is still very fun with it's own identity like you'd expect

Nioh 2 starts when you press new game and make your hiddy. The game just evolves and changes across some 4 new game cycles. You can claim underworld is when it starts since that's when it stops introducing new mechanics
