For a Persona like clone it's a flop for a SMT game that's pretty good.

Personally I find SMT5 only selling 2M in between its two versions way more damming for that series

That's sad. Only about half the social links are datable, and the date only happens at the very end anyway. There's barely any actual romance at all, not sure why it gets so much focus.

Atlus invested pennies an dimes in this and made a huge profit with their oldass engine, reused textures and shlling by Microsoft. This was an absolute success and we will see a re-release rather soon I bet and long-term new games.

Assuming this is a serious question, the game was just Hashino wanting to do something new and different after Persona and Soejima threw out some cool artwork for it. It didn't actually take any coherent form until 2019 where they were at least mapping out some lofty concepts and themes, and the actual dev work didn't start until right before COVID (at which point obviously that probably fucked shit up really bad). At some point they probably realized they bit off more than they could chew and pivoted to just making another Persona game.

Thats around 19 hours or just fucking around people, almost 1/3 of the playtime alone, this is without counting side events and stuff that happens outside of the SLink events so the "real" time is actually even longer.
