The primary difference between the Resident Evil games and the Resident Evil films is that the games are gothic while the films are brutalist. One is fixated on mansions, the other on the sleek concrete and metal corridors that lie beneath.

Gothic vs Brutalist is easily the most concise difference. Most other attempts to explain the difference between the two are wishy-washy and are made by people who clearly never saw the later movies. The games have this fixation on returning to mansions and mansion-esque settings. Even the police station looks like a mansion for some reason. The films have never had much affinity for mansions.

If you're hoping the Zach Cregger Resident Evil movie will be gothic horror, you're gonna be sorely disappointed.

I'm just baffled that they supposedly paid 25 million dollars for a fucking Resident Evil script. I don't think the property is popular enough for that kind of payout.

The original films made 1.3 billion dollars collectively. There's a lot of box office potential, although past a certain point it feels super cash-grabby.

Cregger's movie is more of an indie horror thing except it costs like 50 million dollars. Primarily set in a semi-rural area outside Raccoon City.

The live action movies are just money laundering slop for the director and his wife.

The 3D movies are what Resident Evil should have been.

What do you mean money laundering? They made over a billion dollars. The 3D movies are basically unwatchable. They're the worst kind of adaptation.

The primary difference between the resident evil games and movies is that the first few games were made due to passion and wanting to tell the story. everything after the first movie was made by PSA solely so milla would keep fucking him.

PWSA didn't make the second and third movies. he produced them, and wrote them, but he was busy with other projects. Alexander Witt and Russell Mulcahy took over directorial roles. Similar to Lucas and Star Wars.
