Why has console gaming turned to such kikery? How can it be sustainable to release consoles every 7 years when there's never focus on the experience for the current console? Companies are always making games with the next console in mind, so now most AAA games being released have performance issues because they are thinking of a future re-release/remaster or they just straight up don't release the most wanted titles now because they want it to get all the publicity of being on "next-gen".

Whenever i get tired of console shit i'm just gonna sell everything and build a high-end PC and pirate every single triple A game released, i won't be treated like cattle anymore.

Consoles were a thing when you needed dedicated chips for sound effects and there is no longer a need to make specific hardware when almost completely generic x86 does the job.
Not only that, but no one is going to kneecap themselves by producing exclusives and cutting out 80% of their prospective market, not when porting is as simple as ticking a checkbox.
The only reason consoles even persist is because normalfags bought them in the late 90s up to the late 2000s and they're still deluded by the marketing that told them that this was the slop their friends were consooming.

Shit, nigger, i'm not into console gaming because i need it or because i'm retarded with a PC, i literally have a Dreamcast with GDEmu, HDMI modded 64 with an Everdrive, SNES, Genesis, Saturn with Saroo, all that shit. I love this shit, it's been my hobby since i was a child. I just can't accept getting fucked over so many times by these companies.
PS5 Pro was supposed to be "you just play games on fidelity mode and it runs at 4k@60", now most reviews will show that it's not really that much better than base PS5 - performance is decent, but games that struggled on base PS5 will still struggle on PS5 Pro (like Dragon's Dogma 2).

Now you have to accept that PS5 was Ps4 Pro Pro and PS5 Pro was what base PS5 actually needed to be, and that PS6 is going to be PS5 Pro. That's what they are doing, they are making you shell out crazy money for a subpar experience.

There's only two things i still love about consoles: 1) i can still buy discs for my games; 2) i can just pick up the controller and play, don't have to tinker with any settings.
If next Playstation or Xbox tries to kill physical media i'm not gonna buy them - shit, i wouldn't even buy a Switch 2 if i didn't have so many Switch 1 games that i'd like to replay in the future without performance issues.

My boyfriend tried playing the directors cut of death stranding on pc after the initial og released. It wouldn't run on his regular processor anymore, and was seemingly specifically listed as being outdated despite no leap at all between the og and the directors cut besides the DC being on the ps5. Hideo also let it slip that the only difference really was that the ps5 had a really good SSD in it and didn't expand much graphically.
A 7 year life cycle seems fine if it was a change from ps1 to ps2 or to ps3 or ps4, but I don't really see any justification to not just make a pro model until it becomes completely untenable for games to be playable on the base model, or if there's such an impressive leap in fidelity or quality or technology that it's worth commissioning new contracts for every single manufacturer.
Like, I get the greed and fomo angle and all that, but it seems like it would be so much cheaper to extend the lifespan until something new comes out.
The ps5 and series x could easily last another like 8 years
