I personally enjoyed the atmosphere of SMTVV, and I wish they have a similar vibe in the next game. I just pray they step up story wise because it was an absolute shit fest in V (Yoko was a nice addition but it still didn't save the dumpster fire of a story)

Honestly if you played Canon version it was kind of bad. V was solid because it was more about the characters and world this time around than wandering the world and what is happening.

The atmosphere was alright, and the plot wasn't even half bad. But the characters...were fucking atrocious. Just dogshit cliches that felt more like Persona-lite than anything remotely SMT. Cut all the high school drama shit and make it more like SMT1/2/3/IV/SJ. Focus more on the demons and the different organization, I don't give a shit about some dork faggot's sister or the pure schoolgirl crush who sacrifices herself to save her faggot friend from muh bullying.
None of it felt emotional and that type of tear jerker YA shit has no place in SMT.
