it doesnt get better. this game has 5 minutes of fun for every 60minutes of gameplay. the game does everything in its power to prevent any semblance of momentum or immersion.
>if you get too good at the game, the bosses will be immune during your burst window to load a mandatory phase transition cutscene
>literally every boss will cuck you 2-3 times before it dies
>they couldnt figure out how to have multiple health bars on a boss
>will only be able to have fun if you play a retard
>environment has more empty rooms than ff2
>90% of the hallway design is wasted space
>no cool unique gear or unique materia to find off the beaten path
>encouraged to look at the scenery
>scenery is either lacking details like smoke stacks, lights, electricity pulses from og7
>or literally static images
>every gameplay addition that isnt the combat is literal filler slop

Man
I was so excited about FF7R announcement. Was like "Yes! Finally I can explore whole Midgard and see what all the other sectors are like!"
I have never in my fucking life been so disappointed. Then all the story changes and meta commentary and needing to have completed(not finished, completed) the og FFVII and watched Advent Children and played Crisis Core so that the Remake trilogy makes sense.
But hey, at least it doesn't have le heckin yucky turn-based combat! Now you mash x to awesome for few minutes on enemies that died on 1-2 hits in the og.

You cannot compare the two games in that way. FF7 Remake has been made even to present to the player a more complete storyline than what was present on the OG. To not mention that the type of game itself open up to more game mechanics opportunities that was not available on the original. And you have always to consider that Remake have to justify the price of the game, adding content that was not needed in the OG, for you got all the game, in that case, not just a part of it.

I haven't played Remake, but I keep hearing that it's overly padded. How true is this? I thought the remake was long because it expanded on many aspects of Midgar and the story, which is to be expected when you do that. Is that an incorrect assumption? Is bad expanding just padding? What's good expanding then? Educate me.

What kind of weird mental gymnastics is this? Remake is objectively worse game and all the new "content" and "mechanics" are just filler. Justify the price? How about releasing finished game instead of episodic garbage.

Modern games in general can't properly have their games anymore, but Remake is egregiously bad at it.
For the love of God, don't play Shitbirth because it's even more retarded.

For some sense of scale: they bloated every section the games showcase (e.g., Midgar) to about ten times its size of the og.

IF the game just let you do the mainline shit, it would probably be a fine 25ish hour long game. But there is so many layers of bullshit in it, and Rebirth, that stretch it out. They will take a 5-10m segment in the original game, and make it take an hour like the train graveyard
>OG, you climb and interact to make them move and make a path to where Avalanche is fighting Shinra near the plate.
>Remake, the fight over the plate is happening and the game throws some actual ghost bullshit and elongated segment in the warehouse with slow walking segments and a ghost boss

Its real, and its annoying. If the threshold, which is not visible to you by the way, is for example 75% and you stagger at 77% you will basically lose the entire buildup to said stagger when the cutscene triggers.

Despite being annoying, I also don't think its a huge deal. I'd rather have that than say skip phase 3 of Simon in E33 in my first fight against him before I nerfed myself

yes, and it also resets the stagger bar for each transition. its not the biggest problem by itself, but it stacks on with a ton of other issues. death by a thousand cuts. its barely a videogame. rebirth was 10x better and at least fun

I don't know what game you are playing when anything not a boss doesn't get exterminated within moments of a battle starting. Especially after seeing them and you can just exploit weakness into pressure into stagger. Especially on like 80% or so enemies where its just an elemental weakness which causes pressure
>enemies in Rebirth weak to Ice
>Snow Flurry, which hits multiple
>all pressured, use Focused Strike after lining it up
>all stagger, instantly dead right after
Some larger enemies take longer but absolutely not "whack on for ages". Hell even if we want to include bosses, is anything in Remake/Rebirth less fun than THIS piece of shit? Boring ass moveset, but somehow so much health its just a slog.

its the same combat system, but rebirth is a bit more complex. its main advantage is better encounter design than remake. the combo attacks and team attacks keep the momentum going

How they handled Sephiroth turned me off buying anymore of it.
>Sephiroth built up through the original game
>Not a tough fight but the Developers and Story writers did a good job making you fear this guy.
>Cloud's recollection of the events in Nibelheim, the Zolom, how easily he killed the Shinra president when he was basically the main antagonist for us up to that point, kills Aeris, unleashes the weapons, and summons Meteor
>Is a looming threat but not ever present making any encounter with him memorable
>His regular theme is foreboding with that MIDI heartbeat going on
>His boss theme is one of the most Iconic track in FF history and not revealed until the end of the game
Meanwhile
>FF7R will not stop shoving him in your face
>Keeps braincalling me like a psychic stalker Ex-GF
>you actually fight him and win
>theme played as well
>Shows Sephiroth killing the Zolom vs just showing us the body and letting our imagination fill in the blanks
>Fight his Bizarro form in Rebirth
>You win again btw
The zoomers don't get the fear of him because you've already beat his ass twice. If the directors weren't retards they could've done the gay constant psychic skype calls and appearances but not have him fight us in Remake and Rebirth and they would've gotten a much better experience. >No option to lose or win the selection from Corneo as just a fun little thing to do
>Dance number and you automatically win the selection in Remake

Yes, it must be said that SE played their hand very bad this time. I'm not thinking that part 3 is going to save this. And if they're already recording the voice tracks, this means that they have cut out a lot of things, in order to free themselves as quickly as possible. Even the Rebirth announced DLC got discarded

Original
>Shinra chase with 2 or 3 troopers just for some seconds
>arrive at 1:00 am at 7th heaven, leave the next morning immediately
>get forced out of the train to sector 5, yet they land just next to the right vent to sector 4, and yet you get to sector 5 reactor immediately after some minutes
Remake
>Shinra actually chases you around
>Sephiroth uses this opportunity to start pulling Cloud strings
>arrive late at night, they decide to wait a day before going again
>Tifa/Cloud develop their relationship / talk about their past, and introduce Cloud to sector 7, since Cloud would have lived there for some time if nothing happened
>A mission to develop the new bomb
>they get forced out of train, and they have to stop and check where the fuck they are to get to sector 5
>they take some time since they are fucking entire sectors in a big ass city

Its not that the remake is padded, more like the original is rushed. Once you play original/remake back to back you realize how quickly and rushed the plotting and everything happens

after his fight with Barret Shinra soldiers came in guns blazing and Dyne acted as human shield to protect him and died.
It was pretty good actually but the narrative kind of moves on too fast with multiple boss fights and there was no time to mourn his death. That was the actual bad part. The no mourning.

>For the love of God, don't play Shitbirth because it's even more retarded.
I quit Rebirth once I got to Cosmo Canyon because I couldn't handle all the padding. Once you get to Cosmo some black girl (lol DEI) forces you to help her capture a chocobo. And then you have to learn to fly it and help her because she is sad she can't fly anymore due to a broken leg or some shit.

I legit threw my hands up in the air like
>WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT
Remember when you got to Cosmo in OG FF7? You had a heart to heart camp with your team. You visited Bugenhagen and then went straight into the Cave of the Gi. No padding. No useless shit. No DEI black woman that needs saving.

God Rebirth was so much trash I was honestly so regretful I wasted money on it.

The chocobo quest is mandatory when you enter Cosmo Canyon. You can't see Bugenhagen until you finish it because it's how you learn to fly. So no, it wasn't my choice.

>unless you don't want your weapons/characters sheets to be underleveled
>and unless you don't want to miss out on some of the actually interesting and useful materia you can only get from the faggot kid
>and unless you want your summonings/have the summonings not be absolutely useless
>and unless you want to get something out of the enemy skill materia (that isn't even 10% as good as in OG, which you can't know unless you unlock it, but it's also 20 times more annoying to unlock to only realize it's fucking shit)
Not to mention some of the optional fights like the mind flayer were actually good, but you have to wade through a whole lot of shit to get to them.
