The atmosphere and level choice are phenomenal, but the combat and stealth are just abysmal.

It's not an Ocarina or MGS, but it's still up there.

That's fair, the combat and stealth are way too forgiving and easy. I find it servicable enough since it feels nice when you get the laser pointer/your skill levels get good enough to consistently hit enemies while running around, but it's definitely not great. Consider playing GMDX next time, the combat is a lot more serious and can even get hectic at a few parts.
