bikes are overpowered and there's no reason to use karts

if you are playing a lightweight combo you will get knocked off the track rather easily

Pros, it introduced a bunch of new things that stand strong to this day in the series.

Cons, nowadays it just feels like a beta release of MK8. That game provides everything Wii has and much, much more. World suffers with this a bit too. 8 was just too good.

Different game meta due to a mechanic they patched on Switch. It's worth playing as well if you engage with meme modes in other MKs just because you'll be using different drivers and vehicles and approaching tracks differently.

It's not as fun as DS, nor does it have the same breadth of content, but it had better online so people remember it more fondly. Mostly by brown people and the French.

Kart/Character combo actually makes a difference such as Toadette on magikoopa bike can drift offroad thanks to a combined offroad stat
Drifting off ramps, tricking, and still landing into the held drift
wheelies are fun
Crazy amount of shortcuts
Wiimote and nuncheck control allow you to do air tricks without removing a finger off a button
