There’s just no way a game like this can keep its playerbase. There’s too many retards trying to play “meta” with randos and then it becomes a circlejerk of “X needs to be buffed,” and “Y needs to be nerfed!” Wannabe competitive players will ruin this game just like they ruined Overwatch. Of course this could all be solved with self-hosted servers.

Rivals already had a bloated launch because Marvel IP boost + flavor of the month game + tits and ass boost + frustrated Overwatch players. Now that the honeymoon phase is it's entering normal player numbers. Also we're currently in the season end so there's the debuff of that (someone who plays consistently would have already finished the battle pass a week or two ago)
