Advance weapons generally show their strengths at higher levels. Advance Cranks don't reduce scaling on other stats so they tend to scale well, and later you actually have the amulets and consumables to make them work.

DID YOU REALLY JUST USE A FUCKIGN HEAL
There's one thing I think that sucks about the storytelling and pacing. From a game perspective it is perfectly fine with how the levels are laid out and all though.
For all the early parts of the game you're told about your objective and where to go and what to do, this works till you meet Venigni and he asks you to kill that area's boss and find his puppet. You do that but after that point, the game just stops handling progress this way. People back at the hotel don't talk about a possible plan of fighting back and what you should do. They don't even acknowledge Venigni is back and the factory has stopped producing puppets thanks to you when you come back. This is after two of the NPC's in the hotel talking and asking you to help Venigni.
You just go to the next area because you can and nobody else is doing anything so might as well explore and kill everything that moves. There's also the fact that the Cathedral isn't one of the areas you're told to be a hotbed of puppet problems that need solving ASAP either. Maybe it's just me being asinine about story telling
>>713369565>the Grand CovenantIt's kind of funny how the game straight up tells you what's wrong with everything and what's going on when you ask about GC the second the hotel is unlocked. It could be me playing SS13 for years too, though.
>>713375112Talking to Geppetto between levels explains why you are going to the places you are.
>CathedralWorried about people that went there
>MalumWorried about the water?
>Rosa Isabelle Kill the king
>Exhibition Look into the alchemists and their cure
>Swamp looking for golden ego
>Destroyed Krat No idea, maybe to check out the workshop tower
The rest of the game is all about saving Geppetto and Sophia.
I agree that NPC should interact and react more with each other. That would have made the Sophia twist better too.
>>713375112You can ask Geppetto about the areas and he gives you a reason for doing them, but the actual path P takes seems less planned out and more about what's the closest objective from what he just finished doing
>Cathedral isn't one of the areas you're told to be a hotbed of puppet problemsGeppetto says he's worried about all the survivors that went there for shelter since he hasn't heard any news from there and I think he (might be someone else) mentions puppets seem to be readying up to attack it.
I never really thought about it but you're right, there doesn't seem to be a good reason for us to go anywhere, but at the same time
>You just go to the next area because you can and nobody else is doing anything so might as well explore and kill everything that movesis how I feel about every soulslike story
>>713375998>>713376046>Talking to Geppetto between levels explains why you are going to the places you are.I know but that happens before you deal with Venigni so the game still was pointing you towards places and it stops. He also is worried about people there but even he and others are mostly on the "well something might be wrong but maybe not, who knows" train. Even if the game said "ok I'm out of ideas, do whatever" outright the Cathedral doesn't feel like a good first spot when you're also told about the alchemists and the very important king of puppets. Hell, Rosa Isabelle street is right next to the Hotel anyways so it's not even us visiting the Cathedral on our way, that fucking thing is high up in a mountain out of the city. I'm ok with the game being this way but it wasn't like this up until that very specific point so it just feels inconsistent.
>>713376412Funny enough the OZ game will likely side step this issue totally with progression being "follow the yellow brick road" at the start and never changing.

I really appreciate the bosses in this game, theres a pretty healthy good-to-bad ratio. Most soulslikes, there's five lame bosses for every good one.

>>713393857The charged/running R2s aren't parries, they just give you some delayed block frames for extra safety.
>>713394904The parry is the handle art
>>713394958Yeah I know, I thought you were talking about the R2s but after re-reading your post I see that you meant the fable art. The window for the fable art is fairly long and I thought the startup was basically instant. The counterattack does reasonable damage as well and is very quick.
>>713351348im using black steel cutter its pretty good. you dont get many options, i was using the acid spear handle for everything for a while.

The nun dying that quickly has to be NG+ bait
>>713396345Don't use Frozen Feast or any slow motivity weapon, there's zero poise in this game outside of Fable Arts.
>>713393857Fable art parries utterly wreck bosses. They have massive stagger values and it doesn't even use meter on a failed parry.
>>713396345Use a giant fucking axe with a long handle
>>713396345Elemental weaknesses are really potent, so take advantage of weapon damage buffs and/or give elemental weapons a try.
Its generally most important to have a weapon that feels good to use over most other stuff. MOST weapons are at least decent, and if they feel good to use they are probably fine.
Watch the stats on handles when making custom weapons, for example, dont make a stabby weapon handle with a slash weapon head.

>>713403543>>713403645Use the statue and pay attention to the actual damage/health you get for each point, there's some pretty noticeable declines at 21, 26 and 31 (not exact numbers for every stat, use your eyes). By level 40 each point in Motivity only gives +1 damage, meanwhile at level 20 it was giving +4 damage. A balanced weapon with 30 Motivity + 30 Technique is getting more overall damage (ballpark numbers).
The game kind of tells you this if you read the stats screen, but not really. Just try to keep things reasonably balanced (you can still skip Advance if you're not using an Advance elemental damage weapon).

>>713383276Why did they make him look like that
Also how did he get from the Rose Estate to the island in that cell
>>713420743Naw level 2 is about the NG level
>>713420751The nigga can fucking fly in his phase 2
>>713420751The alchemists are obviously very interested in him, they probably just transported his corpse
>>713419092>five fucking minutes for level 3You can do a little better, buddy. Maybe level up some more.
>>713421534Not worried about time.
Just beat black rabbits solo with a wrench head on a baton handle +3, little shits put up a fun fight. Are there any more fights like this?
>>713422242Every fight is fun if you're a giant blade chad
>>713401739gets completely mogged by the Tyrant's Murderer's handle alone
>>713422310Oh yeah Im having a blast. I guess what I meant to ask was if there are any more of these 'ganker' type fights with like smaller groups of humanoid enemies, those are the best for me. I'm running a motivity build, still trying to figure out which one to pick as my main weapon. Probably this wrench thing until I find something heftier. Dont get me wrong I like big ass blades, like the eldest rabbit's buster/guts sword, hopefully thats obtainable. But I do have a weakspot for giant fuck you blunt weapons, where I go I must also bonk type of thing.
Theres some nice smaller blades but so far I havent found very many motivity handles and I think I should probably save my cranks to make an A scaling weapon at some point. I imagine I cant be too far from the difficulty spike in bossfights Ive read about.
>>713422967There might be one more but bosses are mostly 1v1 affairs
I guess there are ambushes in the levels sometimes but they're against zombies and shit you kill in one hit
I used baton handle and live puppet axe for my first playthrough
>>713423080>>713422967Oh also, don't worry about the scaling that much, it's absolutely fine to take a dex weapon like the dancer's curved sword handle and just slap a motivity crank on it. That will see you through NG fine
>>713420685>bragging rightsWhere did this meme come from? Not everyone who prefers to play by themselves do it purely for bragging rights. It's annoying when the boss is constantly swapping targets and not paying attention to you for half of the fight. You only get one first playthrough, and I wanted to spend that experience doing something I personally enjoy. I plan to do a lot of replays, so I can just summon Lea in the next playthrough.
>boss rematchThe default starting level 3 difficulty is much easier than the scaling I have at NG+6. It wouldn't be the same fight. Sure, I could beat the boss several times and unlock difficulty 5 which is probably on par with the scaling I'm dealing with, but that takes away from the very first victory against the boss. Yes, I'm autistic.
Is the game stuttery for anyone else? It's almost impossible to have a stable frame time graph in this game since the dlc
>>713423181Enemies don't scale up anymore past NG++. Thanks for proving conclusively that you only do shit for bragging rights, even bragging in your very post about something that you misunderstood
>>713422242>Are there any more fights like this?Yes, keep playing
Also get the Bone-cutting Saw if you missed it, it's also good with the baton.
>>713423297I missed something in the story, was this guy already an ergo-awakened puppet when Lea destroyed him the first time or was he still a regular human psychopath then?
>>713423341He was an ergo-awakened puppet, and he used the scythe you get for beating Romeo as a weapon back then.
Am I missing out if I don't even bother using the arm? I'm at the Laxative boss right now.
>>713423481>A chain-sickle handle that once sprayed a bloody fog over Krat. The spring device allows the handler to extend or wind up the chain easily.>Krat has a legend about a grinning hedonist murderer. They say his heart was made of clockwork.Oh neat
>>713422967>what I meant to ask was if there are any more of these 'ganker' type fights with like smaller groups of humanoid enemiesThere are two more bosses like that, one from the DLC i consider the best multi-enemy fight in the entire genre.
>>713423523Kind of, but it's a side arm not a replacement for your weapon.
>>713370989>PC-uck is a cat ear trannyLMAO, kys
>>713423523I thought you had to get unique items to unlock all the other arms so I never got any of them until like the last boss
The gun would have been immensely helpful a few times
>>713423229Don't use the internal framecap, use RivaTuner instead.
The UE4 experience.
>>713422242>wrench head on a baton handleLies of Ps Drakesword
>>713349367 (OP)The DLC was a lot of fun. I enjoyed it more than the base game. I found myself really caring a lot about the characters this time around and even got emotional a few times. Also glad to see they didn't censor upskirt shots, something that so many modern games do, so the DLC is a 10/10 for that alone. Best weapon is the gunblade, best boss is arlekino
>>713424158The drakesword is the free polearm the devs gave to everyone
>>713424158AKA elden ring's golden halberd kek, its a lot of fun. Wrench handle is good too, but not as quick. Do people use the coil stick handle a lot? the rush smash is great plus the B scaling on motivity.
>>713423270Trying this bad boy out, not bad. I like the fable art.
>>713423181I did the same thing too, anon. People can't comprehend someone playing the game (that they paid money for) the way that they deem is most fun for them, and that there must be some ulterior motive for clout or e-peen points. You would think people would have more to do with their time and energy that to sit on the internet getting offended by people enjoying the same game that they did, but I suppose it's some new brand of autism that started surfacing around the same time the whole "You didn't beat the game" thing become popular.
>>713423141I like this system a lot, wish ER had something similar. Also are there no like fist weapons outside the arm? Im just past the white lady.
>>713349367 (OP)Hi, I bought the game on sale but not the DLC (because it wasn't on sale), is it worth spending full price or should I wait for a sale like a cheap fucker (what I usually do)?
>>713422435>wintry is literally used to break the game, get out of bounds, ignore multiple boss move sets>"gets mogged"yeah if you're a casual that only looks at Big Number instead of the whole move set of a weapon
>>713424994The DLC has one claw weapon but I think that's it
>>713424894The fable art is actually a slight downgrade when paired with the baton, you're attaching it for the much larger hitbox.
t. bone baton user
>>713423297How do you dodge the dive he does after the skulls
>>713425251The handle system is pretty ingenious but at the end of the day you just take a moveset you like and making the blade as heavy and long as you can stand
I loved the game when I played it at launch but I kinda lost interest now. Is the DLC worth it? $30 seems very steep. How many hours do you get out of it?
>>713426206About 15 maybe? Mind you the base game took me 22 hours which I think is lower than average
The DLC is just more LoP but better, so probably not worth it if you're bored of the game
