>Switch third party game: Will cost like 40% of its original launch price after a year or two
>Nintendo game: Will remain the same price until the heat death of the universe

And then you wonder why Nintendo doesn't give a single fuck about third parties.

I've gotten way more mileage out of Pokemon Scarlet than I have any western game ever.

The goal of any publicly traded company is to maximize profits. If a CEO does not try to maximize profits, they can be held criminally liable at worst, or will get quickly fired at best.
Publicly traded companies are never your friends.

Strong 1st party titles have always been the ace up Nintendo's sleeve, and they've been pulling the whole "No discounts ever" thing since the Wii. Technically they've been doing it since the GameCube era (See: Smash Bros Melee)

Since you sound like a veteran pokefag I’m gonna ask you. How important are the online features for the enjoyment of a Pokémon game? The last one I played was gen 2 when I was a kid and recently nostalgia has been hitting me hard and I’m considering getting a switch 2 for some Pokémon games OR emulating a bunch of them (which is why I’m asking about the online thing since I won’t have access to those features on an emulator)

I know what you mean, but 1st party games sometimes go on sale on the online shop and in stores. I've bought $60 Mario games at Target and Best Buy for $50. It's not much but it's something.

1. That's not a Nintendo game. It's a Game Freak game
2. Nintendo's games go regularly on sale
3. Nintendo cares a lot about 3rd parties. Furukawa went on record multiple times saying he's happy the rate of 3rd party game sales is growing on Switch. 3rd parties are able to fill the gaps between Nintendo's releases. Keeping the customers constantly engaged with the platform is good for Nintendo.
4. Your point makes absolutely no sense. Cheaper games are more attractive to customers. If Nintendo permanently dropped the prices of their big games no one on Switch would throw a passing glance at 3rd parties.
5. I've had a terrible thought while writing this. Please tell me you aren't so retarded you are trying to suggest Nintendo is setting the prices for 3rd party games

>2. Nintendo's games go regularly on sale
They never do. They want people to respect the value
