It is pretty obvious that the slowdown is intentional because it happens so perfectly. Like they didn't even need all those enemies at once.

yeah sometimes it's obvious there's a bit of intention with slowdowns as a tool. i felt the same way about star fox on snes that some parts with slowdown felt intentional like when you have to dodge a ton of obstacles. but overall the games feel a bit better without the slowdown that happens elsewhere unintentionally.

Honestly kinda crazy that with a franchise as big as Mega Man a majority of the top tier tracks really are just located within one game.
Like I wanna post standout songs from the soundtrack but if I was gonna do that I'd just be posting the entire thing, what was in the water when they were making the music for this game?

It's probably the best game in the series but that's not saying much. It's probably a 7/10.

Mega Man is an excellent game in theory but it's ruined by design and control issues not present in other games.
>>713368996
The music is one of the worst things about it. Capcom's synth/soundfont choices are fucking TERRIBLE. Especially the guitars, they sound atrocious.

If you want decent sounding guitars on the SNES then rock n roll racing did a much better job, or if you want a mega man game on the SNES with good music then Rockman and Forte is MUCH better.

How does raising your standards impact the thing you see as the best of its kind?
In that situation raising your standards would just cut off a bunch of shit that is, by definition, already below it in terms of quality.

The intro level does teach you a lot of basics about the game like:
>this is a braindead baby game
>there is almost no punishment for failure
>there are invincible bosses where you must die to trigger le ebin cinematic sequences
>the game will constantly bog you down with dogshit writing you don't care about

>DOOD THE DESIGN IS SO HECKIN' GENIUS!!!
meanwhile....
>puts the most fundamental action in the game behind jumping and shooting in a random level with no suggestion you should start there
>puts the most powerful upgrade that all late-game boss damage are balanced around (armor) hidden in a random level with no hint or suggestion it's there
>binds dash to a face button by default
>Sigma stages literally show a password save screen between stages to troll you into quitting out thinking your progress will be saved, just to find it didn't actually save any of it and you just lost it all

Overloaded with stupid collectables like one-time use ride armors and pink capsules, copypaste enemy patterns all over the place, boring open, vertical expanses of fucking nothing sequences, a final boss that deals absurd amounts of damage even with the best armor and a fucksmall hitbox on the final phase, nonsense charge weapon gates, and perhaps worst of all an armored charge shot that's more form than function and is genuinely awful to use. X3 does have the double air dash but otherwise the game's a mess and it's clear it wasn't an A team effort.
