Yes, I own a bunch of Japanese versions of stuff like Suikoden and Dragon Quest for this reason. As well as some Japanese only games. But they still need to get better western releases.

If you don't want to learn Kanji, it's easy. At least easier than other languages. To enjoy media, all you need to learn his hira/katakana and spoken Japanese.
