Is this game good? Im on th3 fence if I should play this or hundred line
Anonymous No.713400360 [Report] >>713401132 >>713406408
I didn't like it. The first half was great but then it falls apart completely when you have to redo the same dungeons and bosses multiple times.

Related Question, is Bravely Default II good or not? It's on sale on Steam. I liked the first one, but have heard mixed things about this one.

i'm playing it now for the first time (on 3DS)
this shit is fucking hard, i've had to grind a shit ton and i still get raped by bosses. i just finished SMT 4A on hard too so i figured this would be a cakewalk. i think i'm just being impatient and not playing defensively enough idk

I agree with this. The backtracking is the worst of any game I've played.

Yes. One of the best job systems in vidya. A shame about the story. Play on hard, normal doesn't push you enough.

>>713400494
No, it's not. All the jobs are less interesting than they were in BD1, and even the story got a massive downgrade. Instead of being ambitious but flawed, it's now something worse - it's boring.

>>713400623
I don't recall ever having to grind, except in the endgame to get some of the newer jobs maxed.

It's fun the first time, then you have to redo it 3 more times even though the winning route is fucking obvious the first time through.

Yes, it's good.

Do you like JRPG theorycrafting build autism that allows you to exploit the combat system? If you do this is sex. If you don't It's still Ok

It’s good, but you should play it for free and uncensored on a hacked 3DS if you can. And if you play Hundred Line, for the love of god use a guide to stick to the main story.

Totally recommend it, I had a blast even if the difficulty is all over the place
And Folie is super cute

if you like anime and reading lots of text about madeup characters then this is the perfect game for you. gameplay is some of the most basic rpg'ing you'll ever do but the game really is about anime and reading text
Anonymous No.713403375 [Report]
First half is pretty good but second half is at best okay and at worse unplayable depending on how you feel about doing the same thing over and over again. The last 10% is pretty good again.

its the safest possible JRPG you can think of. its pretty solid imho however.

whats astonishing about it is that it has absolutely no references to Bravely Default 1 or Second in it, except 1 musical reference

Yep. It went from an awesome game to complete shit with that second half. The game should've doled every class in the game in the first half & just ended.
>>713400494
I couldn't finish it because it was just so terribly generic, I played it a lot longer than the second game so theres that. If you're not totally burned out on the genre you might enjoy it, theres nothing explicitly terrible about it from what I played.

Octopath 1 is a good game, but it starts too slow paced, never finished it since I broke my Switch AC adapter, but I did head Octopath 2 is a upgrade in every sense, id o want to go back and finish the first one tho

Octopath is crap.
There are major issues with the writing.
-Absolutely brain dead characterisation
-Major pacing issues because you have to do 1 character's chapter at a time, and there's bloody 8 of them. So by the time you do them all and start the next chapter you can't remember what on earth is going on with each character
-None of the characters stories intersect in any way, which was the whole point of premise of the game in the first place, having 8 characters going on an adventure in the same world. Massive wasted opportunity to have them intertwined...

Combat is interesting but massively flawed
-You need certain skills to damage enemies
-You don't know what skills they are until you leave town, go out into the field and get into a fight.
-When you inevitably realise you can't damage the enemies because you don't have the right skills, you can't swap the skills. You have to fucking walk all the way back into town and go to the pub/inn to change your skills. (This problem is lessened slightly later on when you get the ability to equip different skills from other classes but it's still a pain in the arse).

I like it a lot. Breaking the game with the jobs is really the meat of it, so if you don't like crafting job combos, then I wouldn't recommend it.
>>713400494
It's a snorefest that somehow manages to be even more boring than Second. A lot of the jobs are boring as fuck and all the good skills are unlocked in the lategsme for all jobs for "balance" reasons. Story sucks ass too.
Anonymous No.713412914 [Report]
>>713400494
It's just fine, noticeably unfinished and 2 party members carry the story. Fucking around with jobs is fun but it's still worse than the previous games.

>>713412307
Nah, you have to grind to unlock all the skills and then do stupid synergies
If anything it was better on 3DS becaus eyou could just get the FC of someone with every job maxxed so you could use the skills freely

Do you like job systems/FFV anon? Cause the game might as well be a remake of FFV
Also the plot sucks balls, the boss theme is amazing and the game is censored because square-enix is managed by cum guzzlers

>or hundred line
I've got incredibly mixed feelings about 100 Line.

The first route is amazing and, despite heavy, heavy amounts of story padding and absolute bullshit, it's a really enthralling, engaging experience.

But then you're thrown into the route options and from there the game loses all structure and direction, and you're given a series of completely random choices with completely arbitrary results that lead into routes of vastly differing quality.

Your character is being attacked by a maniac:

>Dodge the attack
The maniac was one of your friends who was killing people. He falls to his death and the story is now about a zombie apocalypse.
>Deflect the attack
The maniac was one of your friends who was only pretending to kill people. The story is now about a slasher movie style villain.

It's all stuff like that and it almost all leads to incredibly unsatisfying twist bad ends. Like the story will put your characters through the wringer, they'll work hard and make tough choices and heartbreaking sacrifices and you reach the end where they've persevered... And then something random will come out of absolutely nowhere that doesn't exist in a single other route and it'll kill them all and go "Oooop! Bad ending!"

What makes it worse is the game absolutely revels in wasting your fucking time. It's an incredibly, incredibly slow game to play, and it's stuffed full with filler nonsense, like your character being sent on these random worthless exploration missions that each chew up 10-15mins at a time (and each time you need to do it 3x) and serve no actual purpose. In the last route I did, I had to do that 6 times, just on that one route alone. The other branches each had it 2-4x, it's exasperating beyond belief.

Same shit with Free Time. It exists only to pad out the story, the social aspects in the game are so absurdly thin they feel like they were crowbarred in at last second. There isn't a single route that needed 100 days, not even 50 days.
