Let's be honest, this particular Yoshi game is superior to any 2D mario game, even if all other yoshi games are shit.
>>713400279 (OP)maybe, would you like to expand on that
>>713400279 (OP)yes it's one of the best SNES games
>>713400279 (OP)No i dont like hearing a baby cry every 5 seconds
>>713401262>every 5 secondsliterally git gud, faggot
The level where the floating fuzzies made you high is a core memory for me
>>713400279 (OP)It's the best 2D platform. Nothing beats it 25 years later.
>>713401262In what circumstance would you hear a baby crying every 5 seconds
>>713401605>>>713400279 (OP) (OP)>It's the best 2D platform. Nothing beats it 25 years later.original Yoshi's Island release date: August 5, 1995 (Japan) ... in a few months Yoshi's Island will be 30 years old.
It's one of my favorite games of all time and I take issue with OP's assessment.
Mostly because they're so damn different. Yoshi's Island was a much slower and deliberate game. Fluttering trivializes a lot of platforming that a 2D Mario moveset would struggle with, so it makes up for this with exploration mechanics.
Does that make it better than Mario World? I dunno, maybe. But how do you weigh things like the art and the music? I love them in Yoshi's Island. Other people think it's kiddy shit. Both are fair takes.
Just like the game as it is, not in relation to other games.
May I be honest for one to three seconds? Yoshi's Story and Yoshi's Wooly World take a big dump on Yoshi's Shitland
Like all classic SNES games, it's great and looks fantastic with wonderful music and aesthetic, but is also so braindead easy that it detracts from the game a bit
Must have been a reaction to the NES and its ballbusters
>>713401671a bad player constantly getting hit
Yoshi's Island was marketed as a sequel to Mario World but it's not. Backtracking or even staying in one room for too long are unique mechanics to YI while MW was more about constantly going in one direction with very few and simple minigames. Also, I have tried to replay YI and was barely able to finish the first world: I wasn' bored but I just can't enjoy it anymore.
>>713400279 (OP)No, it's okay. It's not superior. Also it set the precedent for making all future Nintendo games for babies.
>>713402865I tried Wooly World and it's sooo slow...
How's Yoshi Story?
>>713403207Absolutr kino he sharts out a trail of eggs.
>>713400279 (OP)it is known (with the possible exception of Tetris Attack with the yoshi wallpaper, that's a 11/10 game, but it really had nothing to do with yoshi otherwise)
>>713400279 (OP)the game was a 7/10, but the mindfuck of a boss turned it into a 9/10 holy fuck lmao
>sissy cutesy yoshy game with crayon motif >final boss is giant nigger that presents a new mechanic needed to beat him while metal plays in the brack ground holy kino
>mfw the remake
>>713402865lol there it is the local retard with an absurdly stupid take
>>713402768But the baby only cries when you get it. Just stop getting hit.
>>713403541The bosses were great, giant badass cool designs with excelent clear mechanics.
The final boss was perfect.
Yellow Yoshi is the cutest.
He also always got some of the best levels in the game.
this was the first videogame i ever played
>>713403141Do you think it was Yoshi's Island or Yoshi's Story that really started that trend? Either way I miss the days when Nintendo games were more about challenge.
>>713405397You can always tell by the style
>>713400279 (OP)Nah, nothing beats the NES supermario
>>713405686The artist is undoubtedly a furry but all the lewd stuff I've seen in his (?) gallery are Peach and Samus lewds.
>>713405785Super Mario Bros. 3 is so fucking good. It's incredible.
>>713401262this is not game fault, this is YOUR failt.
>>713400279 (OP)its a platforming game with a hover jump that makes all the platforming easy, and an action game where you have to watch the aiming circle slowly mouse over your target instead of being able to manually aim like in literally any other run and gun type game from the entire console gen
it looks pretty and has very catchy music, but I'd rather play gunstar heroes
>>713403141>>713405658Even with the storybook presentation and baby hauling, Yoshi's Island still had a sense of challenge.
Yoshi's Story on the other hand went full baby game and ruined the character of Yoshi forever.
>>713406527>Yoshi's Island still had a sense of challenge.>Yoshi's Story on the other hand went full baby game and ruined the character of Yoshi forever. You know what. I completely agree.
>>713406401The platforming is definitely not easy in some levels, because you have to still doge shit.
There was that monkey level where countless monkeys spit seeds at you from ahead of the screen. The platforming is ok.
>>713400279 (OP)Perfect example of a game that's fun to play but utterly awful to 100%
DKC2 > Yoshi's Island
>>713406973Yeah... getting the red coins was usually a pain in the balls.
