You'd have to find some way to keep the game communities inside the game. MMOs are a shell of their former self because the novelty they were first built on doesn't exist anymore. Interacting with people in a video game over the internet isn't special anymore, and it's now the least convenient way to communicate over the internet. Current MMOs have insular communities that exist only outside the game on social networking platforms like discord. The social aspect is gone so now only the skinner-box gameplay is left. MMOs were a relic of their time and you can't just bring that back.

MMOs are a byproduct of the dot com boom and don't have a place in the modern day.

I don't know if it's worth it anymore. There are so many cuts to quality and performance with new games

More of what Runescape was, though it also depended on the game. If you were playing something more theme-park then you might have had a guild you got together to do raids with which at it's best was like getting together with a TRPG group for game night. If you didn't have that you'd probably drop the game. Either way it can't be experienced again.
