Games are not only more available, they are more cheap as well. I can currently get NFS and battlefield for TWO DOLLARS and get hours out of it. You can demo full games for 2 hours before refunding it as well.
Additionally fan-patches and mods make older games better to play on modern hardware. Most games weren't emulation-friendly in the past, I couldn't run tekken tag tournament until a decade later.
In the past, you had less PC games to buy and a lot of them were extremely expensive months and years later. You'd be lucky if you had a compatible set of hardware to install them as well. Don't tell me about their stupid DRM that had 3 max installs or CDkeys that do not work. I do not miss SecuROM at all
