I think that Bloodlines 2 is being sabotaged by Paradox wanting Vampire the Masquerade to be a respectable, safe, sanitized brand. The interviews with Paradox execs show that they're quite passionate about VTM, but they're like Disney. I think they're also in a bubble where they don't realize how much culture has shifted the past few years to be disdainful of "sanitized" entertainment. In essence you're watching a slow motion version of the same drama that hobbled Dragon Age 4. Now I'm not saying Bloodlines 2 is going to be devoid of darkness that the vampires will be goody two shoes. But the way Paradox talk about the game raises a lot of alarm bells.
>So, for us, the process [of designing Bloodlines 2] started with really trying to dissect the elements of the original Bloodlines that still resonate today, and what made that experience so memorable. What are the parts that can't be duplicated - or shouldn't be duplicated - for modern audiences, and how do we make that work together in a way that delivers the kind of satisfying experience that people want, but without simply repeating ourselves? We really wanted to take care not to issue a 'greatest hits album,' or to repeat something that would then become formulaic. Nobody wants to do that.

On top of this, the game's writers have alluded to having to work within constraints set by the IP-holder. I'd be surprised if VTMB2 has the kind "cunt, cunt, cunt, cunting cunt" dialogue you see in Still Wakes the Deep.

>Paradox literally doesn't care about the IP
Jason Carl is a long time P&P guy. He cares about the IP.

I hope The Chinese Room can at least salvage some of whatever the fuck this game was, when they got their hands on it.

The thing is that they've gone so far beyond salvaging a troubled game into essentially building an entirely new game from scratch with some recycled assets. It's more akin to Doom 2016, which uses assets from Doom 4.

He said the cursed words. The game would either be a trainwreck or cancelled outright

Sometimes "modern audience" is fine when talking about game reboots or sequels. But other times it's about catering to an imaginary audience of prudes.
