Arguably the best opening sequence of any zelda game as it actually gets you invested early in protecting her.
later 3D zeldas introduce the princess late. I think it's only really skyward sword as an exception.
Getting thrown right into it really is to it's benefit.

Anyway, yes, it's the platonic ideal of Zelda, everything that makes the series good is perfectly distilled. Majora's Mask will always be my favorite but ALTTP is functionally perfect.

its like 1/10 the game that ocarina is in every sense. dungeons, items, controls, secrets, music, atmosphere, storytelling, it is absolutely raped by OOT in every metric

the oracle games are better than alttp. if it had just a few more dungeons, wind waker and minish cap would be better as well.

Zelda was always a dumbed down version of Rogue and its formula was done better by Elder Scrolls. If not for Koji Kondo's music and the fact that it was on the console every sniveling kid had in the days of hair metal nobody would remember this franchise.

Its good but outside of a few dungeons like Skull Woods and Ganons Towers its not great. Having said that though it is consistently good, and that metric alone makes it the best 2D entry.

I mean, yes. Zelda 1-5 are still the best Zelda games. I personally like Zelda 1, 2, Awakening and Ocarina more. But LttP is still better than anything after those.

Wind Waker is a gem and the remake where they streamline collecting the Triforce pieces makes the game a 9/10. Truly underrated
