Is the average gamer becoming a smarter a consumer? Feels like recently a lot of slop that should be flopping, is actually flopping.

The industry just rediscovered that sex sells, and disgusting asexual abominations do not. We're returning to 90s sex appeal

Gamers must be a marketing nightmare. Think about it:
>Your game MUST offer good replay value, gamers now expect NG+ or content that will last a 2nd playthrough
>Game must also be competitively priced, if your straight-to-PC title isn't on Steam you are kneecapping yourself
>If you're a AAA company, your audience will expect frequent content updates
>No sex? No sell
And a shitload else I can't think of right now. No other entertainment medium has a tougher audience to please than video games. Film studios can shit out 7 mediocre films in a row and still turn a dollar, but a game studio? One bad apple will permanently fuck up your image. The only reason the big game studios can get away with this is because literal government institutions have shares in them to keep them afloat, and we are just now seeing the effects that shit game fatigue is having on these studios: they are CRUMBLING, they are DESPERATE to appeal to an audience which is so verdantly jaded that they are killing them by doing NOTHING.
So yeah, it feels pretty fucking good to be a gamer.

Cinemas are dying because they are just dumping releases on stream in a matter of weeks before releases. Why would I ever pay for a movie ticket when I can way 3 weeks/1 month and watch from the comfort of my home without paying for a parking fee, overpriced popcorn, dealing with people coughing, sneezing, typing on their phones, etc.

The movies aren't an experience anymore, it's just thrash besides the overall quality of movies themselves, which are also shitty.

Yeah I didn't even gloss over wokeslop fatigue because the volume of shit to choose from is so dense that if the big new thing sucks there's several hundred alternatives coming out at the same time that offer something better and we are well past the era of SNAC (shit nobody cares about). Cinema is a medium is also getting rocked right now and I don't think it'll be back until Der Recession ends (lol) >>713426406
The real question we should be asking is why has it taken this long for big studios to realise that oversaturated, overpriced 'experiences' disguised as entertainment have failed to capture any audience, and why the fuck they haven't pivoted back to smaller teams with better talent.
