Persona has a consistent battle system and style that's gotten better and better between games.

Final Fantasy has a radically different artstyle and battle system between games so the average normie has no idea what they're getting as well as having numbering in the teens and the fact it uses roman numerals

I was never into FF growing up. The only turn based game that was cool then was pokemon.
I didn't know anything about Persona except from seeing P4 spoilers here until P5 came out. The trailers looked cool though so I gave it a shot and liked it.
I imagine there are a lot of people like me who think FF looks really cheesy and P5 looked fresh in comparison.
