He wants a mostly one sided feud to be a bigger deal. Like it's basically just him and his old man being fags. Eorlund doesn't care, Fralia doesn't care outside of finding her son, Olfina doesn't care, Avulstein and Thorald don't do anything about it and just run off to join the stormcloaks.
