Nah. Stellar Blade is cool but its qualities are far too imbalanced to be deserving of something like that.
Its combat is cool but it's nothing extraordinary.
Its music is splendid but the way it's used in-game is not that great.
Its story has neat ideas that it does a poor job at tying it together.

Probably Mario Odyssey, but the big secret about 3D platformers is that none of them are really good. The 2D-3D transition in this case just turned a formula that worked well into a sandbox that, to this day, no one has figured out how to make fully functional.
The next piece of evidence in favor of what I'm saying will be Meat Boy 3D, where people will realize something like, "Cool, but it was better when it was 2D".

Astro Bot isn't even better than a grand majority of Playstation (or associated with Playstation) 3D platformers.
I'd rather play Crash, Spyro, Jak, Sly, and Ape Escape over it (I don't consider Ratchet a 3D platformer series but if it was included in that description I'd include it too)

Astro Bot is more polished, but simpler. Its highly linear levels keep the gameplay extremely tight. Astro Bot is more technically interesting with all the physics simulations and controller feedback. Robot flavored everything gets a bit boring though, it doesn't feel like it has as much of a soul as Mario. I love the hub world and the feedback loop of rescuing bots and growing your base is really fun.

Mario Odyssey is more creative and has more of an element of exploration as well as a wider moveset that allows for more skill expression. Mario's levels feel like little worlds that reward exploration and experimentation and there is more of a sense of "plot" and character than in Astro Bot. Odyssey lacks a good hub world, but each level sort of has hub like elements.

Both games rely on gimmick ability modification to mix up the gameplay which I'm sick of seeing in every platformer. Become a caterpillar! Become a frog that bounces high! Become a sponge that soaks up water! It just feels like a cop-out and wasn't required to make great platformers in the past.

They're both fun and beautiful platformers. I'd rather play Astro Bot if I want to just mindlessly pick up and play for 20 minutes and I'd rather play Odyssey if I want to sit down for an hour and dig in to some relaxing platforming fun.

The Jak & Daxter style of open-world, action adventure platformer with stylized, cartoony art is the style of platfomer I miss the most. There's just nothing like it in the modern gaming space. Modern platformers seem to have really leaned into gameplay focused, level oriented design with a lot of gimmick abilities that change constantly to keep up with zoomer attention deficit issues.

Spyro is also interesting because to me it's basically a vehicle platfomer as Spyro controls like a car. Mario Kart World is kind of like a vehicle platformer collectathon and that seems cool, but I haven't played it yet.

Imagine splatoon but you spray foam that piles up and becomes such a visual mess that you need permanent enemy outlines to know where they are. Then add a cash shop, the usual AAA multiplayer designs and the "hey there fellow kids" theming.
I wouldn't dwell on it too much. It already hit the end of service.

There's like 2 maps in the entire game built so that you can stack up foam to make a shortcut, and neither of them are actually useful shortcuts. The fact the foam can stack up really just feels like it was included solely so they could say they have SOMETHING different from splatoon that wasn't the lack of something splatoon had or the addition of something terrible like a cash shop, battle passes, and $45 EACH cosmetics.

Astro bot was very shallow as a platformer and was mostly just a succession of setpieces. All flash, no game.

Depends. AstroBot feels more polished. Like itโ€™s almost technically flawless. The levels are mostly linear. Dualsense integration is fantastic. Odyssey has more open-ended levels, which have an element of exploration that AstroBot doesnโ€™t really have. Thereโ€™s more movement tech in Mario which, in combination with the level design, gives it more of a sandboxy feel. I feel like thereโ€™s more to do in Mario. Regardless, theyโ€™re both A+ games. AstroBot was definitely worthy of GOTY imo. Pure fun from start to finish.

How is this even a question?
AB has no difficulty, is short (10h game), has one of the simplest moveset you can find in a 3d platformer and the level design is at least 2 tiers below Mario Sunshine, to say nothing of Odyssey. It also has no personality, everything is just some reference to a dead Sony IP. Try Psychonauts, Rayman 2, Banjo-Kazooie, etc. if you really want personality in your platformers.

Odyssey is a masterpiece.

AB is a 8/10 game at best. People only called it GOTY last year because they hate Square Enix and didn't want to see Rebirth winning. Which is fine, i don't like modern SE too but people can't stop pretending AB is some modern masterpiece.

I started Psychonauts 2 a few weeks ago, and was really loving the story and worldbuilding. It felt so good to explore the headquarters and it almost felt like a JRPG with all the dialogue and characterization... but then I started playing Astro Bot at the same time and now I can't bother to continue with Psychonauts, it's just not a very well designed game in comparison. It's got great charm, story and animation, but the gameplay can't hold a candle to Mario or Astro Bot.

A platformer must be fun and challenging first.. and honestly at a certain point, 3 minutes of dialogue breaking up every 10 minutes of gameplay is just too annoying.

Built up foam can be cleared by opponents firing their own far faster than it can be placed. It doesn't offer a tactical advantage either since all players, including opponents, are marked on the screen at all times, and will have glowing colored outlines when behind something, including a wall of foam.

most people expected Metaphor winning, but its a multiplat so it didn't had that Nintendo/Sony backup bonus.
FF7 Would've only won as a giveaway for SQ and so FF7(R) could retroactively receive a prize (Remake was better received than Rebirth).
Otherwise there was no real competition
Black Myth would've been an obvious genuflection to china.
ER already won and SotE was a fucking DLC that wasn't even that good
Balatro was an obscure puzzle indie fotm (people would've mocked GOTY-awards for years if that won)

I can't agree, when most of the actual game is combining Telekinesis moves from rolling to hovering, all while the later 3rd of the game introduces more actual platforming challenges. The story is just well rounded and more explored than something like Mario Sunshine.
I would not play Psychonauts as a Point N Click.

Astro had better legacy moments overall, because the viariety of all the series in the easter eggs. It also has better graphics etc because PS5. Other than that, Odyssey is way superior. Mario physics and movement is enough to put it leagues above Astro, because expressive platforming (buzzword, sure) is what people enjoy of 3d platforming, otherwise 2D is better
