You do realize that European Extreme difficulty in MGS games filter anything on Soulsborne games?
You can beat those games with dance pads, feet only, no-hit-runs, literally any way possible. This is not hard, those are games made to tickle yours balls and make you feel like you are good at games

This is just selectable difficulty that can be changed at any time with a slightly novel presentation. Its no different than any other game that lets you change difficulty at any time in exchange for losing out on achievements or whatever. Instead of having presets in the menu it just has a single baseline "difficulty"(or in a sense the default is the hardest) that can be opted out of selectively, like putting it on "very easy" for the one boss you can't beat and than flipping it back to what it was before. I would almost never do this unless I didn't care much for the game and I agree that its a suboptimal way to play a game like this but that my just my opinion. I'm not upset if people flip to easy mode when they play. Its also not fundamentally different the way a lot of games already are that have adjustable difficulty.

Souls games being hard is one of the biggest urban legends in the entire entertainment industry. Souls game only appear diffocult because of how fast and damaging the enemies are but they always spawn in the same place and have the same moves, eventually completing a game becomes as easy as breathing.
