A game that is self-absorbed, self-important, and pretentious about what it's saying or doing?

Anything made by Toby Fox.
Low effort bullshit with the same message every fucking time. Fatfurs and any other degen will huddle around it and snort it.

That's the issue I'm having with the OP. Are we talking about the game it's self or the devs feelings for the game?

Persona 5 - every 2 minutes, characters have to tell you what feelings they have and it goes for hours whole game.

Thereโ€™s never anything notable about these games.
The character designs get talked about for 6 months then the fanbase runs back to /trash/ where they belong
Literal groomer tranny game. One of the few.

Detroit become human
>the music
>the dialogue
>the "choices"
>the plot
>the characters
its all goty bait
would've been 1000x better if it was just hank and connor but even that story line needed some work. Like even if you do the android path, hank will still begin to empathise with the androids despite thinking they are worthless and hating them when you meet him. The game had a clear path for the player to follow and it shows.

JRPGs often insist upon themselves. Take Xenoblade for example.
>Convoluted story full of predictable plot twists
>Cutscenes so long the switch screen goes dark from being inactive
>Hours and hours of repetitive gameplay and story beats that waste the player's time

Any game that wastes the player's time including:
Damage sponge enemies
Long cutscenes
Level grinding beyond fighting a few tough enemies
Repetitive fetch quests
"Infinite content" like legacy quests in Skyrim

Hard agree, and the worst part is it's just long enough that when you finish it you can't return it on Steam
