Yeah absolutely, all Smash did was make Captain Falcon a mischaracterized meme and tricked people into thinking his series were action-fighting based instead of racing, the average Nintendo fan couldn’t name 10 FZ characters that aren’t Captain Falcon.

The whole narrative that Smash boosts a franchise’s popularity and brings it to the mainstream is bullshit and needs to die.
Fire Emblem did NOT get popular in the West because of Smash, Awakening did, if anything Smash made some western players hate FE because of it’s infamous roster hogging and got them to lose interest trying the games out.
Smash didn’t do anything for Banjo or K.Rool 5 years later, no new BK remake/sequel or anything, K.Rool doesn’t show up in spin-offs, the DK theme parks, all he’s got is Bananza which is only a theory at that.
Nobody gave a fuck about ARMS even after Min Min got added.
Tekken doesn’t have a SINGLE game on Switch despite Kazuya being in.
People should come to face that roster inclusions are done out of pity, not a chance in the gaming spotlight.
