Heartstopper only works if there's a bloon (non moab class) on screen. If there are only moabs the ability won't be usable.

When Blasta first came out you could remove its purple immunity as it spawned with Heartstopper

I believe this bug has been in the game since Blasta came out. Something that I don't know if they fixed is that the purple immunity disappeared permanently after using it only once (even if it runs out) until you leave and reenter or until you die and buy a restart.
You need a normal bloon on screen to use the ability.

You say that and yet they're practically the same cost if you take crosspaths into account.
I just tried both, elite defender cannot beat hard rounds like 63, 75 or 76. Desperado can beat 76 by himself and the only thing stopping him from beating the other 2 are the leads which are not a problem if you give both of them an MIB.
I think an elite defender's only pro is the range, the desperado beats it on everything else.

To be more specific, an elite defender becomes worse than a wet shart the moment it sees a ceramic. It unironically performs worse against a normal ceramic than against a fortified ceramic.
I'd rather get a 520 desperado any day of the week unless it was very specific circumstances like abusing the extra speed buff of the sniper against a boss or something.
