You could still face the true final boss. Hollow Knight hides the true final boss in a tedious fetch quest. Like, I tried dream nail because of the SOTN callback but unlike SOTN where you only need the glasses to destroy the orb, here you have so many tedious extra steps. Now I understand why HK fans are so defensive, also the shallow movement mechanics. I mean, compared to SOTN and Metroid

I don't think so, you can fight Graham but if you don't have the right souls the final part of the game with the Julius and Chaos boss fights aren't going to happen.
