Brother, it's a sidescrolling platformer. You start on the left and you go to the right unless someone tells you otherwise, or you go through a door to an area where you're on the right in which case you go to the left.

I 99-percented the game as a 10-year-old and it wasn't even that difficult. It has very few puzzles that defy all logic and NPCs always tell you hints. (Only reason I didn't 100% it is because there's one quest you have to do in a specific way or you're forever locked out of 100%. I'm fuzzy on the details, just learned about it in some video a few years ago.)

It's a lot more confusing in the early stages but once you get a feel for it it's addicting knowing you got something that can probably get you something else from previous areas you couldn't before.

That being said while games that have stuff locked out when you first approach them are fun, it does suck not knowing whether you can't get it yet or there is something you just aren't figuring out. I would actually like to know if something is unattainable right away.
