What was your experience like with Breath of the Wild?
I bought it on launch, but the durability turned me off. I never did any divine beast dungeons, never embraced the low durability, and checked out after 15 or so shrines.
With the Switch 2, I'm giving it a fairer shake, and am definitely enjoying it more at this time.

This. no matter ho thoughtful they meant it to be. Mandated building disjoints the flow of gameplay.

Real talk /v/, I had about 100 hours of fun with Totk but do you think Aonuma an co. are aware of this?

TOTK as a game is fine, as a sequel to BOTW it is a complete piece of shit
>Did nothing to fix the combat issues (damage calculation, Flurry Rush, healing system)
>Shrines have the same problem as BOTW, they're too short, too simple, and there are too many of them
>Depths is the same assets over and over and over again and with all the walls and shit it just feels like you're navigating a shitty maze. Only reason to go down there is for the old Amiibo costume pieces.
>Sky Islands can be fun but there just isn't enough of them, and more often than not they use the same solution multiple times (build the obvious machine they want you to build then move on)
>Nobody remembers who the fuck you are on land except some of the main story characters, making BOTW feel
>Dungeons still fucking suck ass
Now with all that out of the way, if you're a power player TotK is even worse.
>Vast majority of shrines can be cheesed with Recall/stacking shit and jumping, it's all block stacking puzzles.
>Fastest way to travel is using the gliders which are easy to spawn and stand on mid-air, or using the airbike, which trivializes every puzzle as well as all forms of traversal
>Story is once again disjointed and not told very well. ANOTHER fucking ancient hyper advanced civilization? And all the cool shit from the OTHER ancient hyper advanced civilization (Guardians, etc.) disappears?
>Menus to attach weapon parts/bow items fucking sucks.
>No matter what type of weird shit you attach to your bow/sword, it always boils down to getting the highest damage part/bombs

I somehow managed to enjoy playing through BOTW twice, finally going through it now on Switch 2 because it runs/loads faster than on Yuzu. But after I play this once there's no way I'm ever coming back to it. Do all those shitty shrines, all these lightroots, are you kidding me?

TotK is the best newgame+ ever made, but not for 80 bucks.

How this game turned out is most decinitely attributed to how well BotW sold. It sold more than triple TP's sales. I feel it's almost certain that if BotW sold normal Zelda numbers the following Zelda game would have been very different instead of "shit? We sold 30 million and had a bunch of wacky twitter clips? Lets do it again AND build and entire game around wacky physics! People will love doing it again!" But it backfired and the TotK's reputation is extremely mixed.
