I'm guessing that people don't like the game because its too "cryptic", to me that just says the brainrot generation is literally incapable of cognitive reasoning or problem solving. Being too cryptic is something you can say about plenty games from this era, and this is one is tame by comparison. In the age of the internet guides are everywhere. You no longer have to learn from the grapevine of people in real life. You can make a reasonable argument that if the game doesn't give enough information inside the game itself on how to progress that is bad game design.

I played the game when the SNES was the current system and had issues with it back then. And still do today. So I wouldn't say it's perfect. But I also don't say it's bad. It's better than any Zelda game after Ocarina.

It's going to be based on your experiences and opinion. I think Zelda 1 and Awakening are better. And I even like Zelda 2 more, though it has more flaws. But that's because 2D Action/Platformers are my favorite genre. Likewise, Metroid II and Super are examples of games I like more than LttP. Along with many others. But I try not to compare games from vastly different genres and series.

Point is, I can think of many games I like more than LttP. But that doesn't mean I hate LttP. It's way better than most other games. And better than any Zelda after Ocarina.

i also enjoy more Super metroid at this point. as far as zelda goes, its also not my personal favourite, but it has too few flaws, no "that part" or whatsoever, a very fun and big map to explore and the progression was so good thst Oot and later zelda games copied it forever.

comparatively, the atmosphere and universe is not as remotely interesting as Oot, Link's awakening and most later entries, so it's not the one world i choose to go back to often. but if enough time passes that i forget the puzzles and events, its a damn good time.

By today's standard, and Zelda standards (OoT, TP, BotW) it feels incredibly basic, i'm not gonna lie. It holds up as a "fun game" but it feels super generic as a universe by this point, until you get the Triforce at the end. That was the moment I felt that "Zelda Magic" because I thought even the final Ganon fight was pretty shit.

Zelda 2 was a huge downgrade in basically every way. Shitty jarpiggy grinding RPG system, worse combat and hitboxes, worse dungeon design, worse overworld, more obtuse progression, poor difficulty balance, etc.

It's the only zelda game i've ever played when i was 10 but i discovered jrpgs in my teens then open world games in adulthood. I remember playing the original on nes at 5 but didn't understand what to do nor understood english.

I love Zelda 2. But it's a flawed game that needs a remake. Much like Castlevania 2 or Dragon Quest 2. There's a reason people joke about the sequel curse on NES. Which of course isn't a curse. It was just at the time, developers felt like they had to do something massively different in sequels. Then usually returned to form in the third game.
