What is the actual goat of controllers? I keep hearing that the 1st party controllers are not very good. Obviously pic related is cheap shit but apparently it does the job so what's the consensus on controllers these days

I think ZD is a promising company to keep an eye on, O+ would be endgame if their firmware were competent

Unironically this. 360 controllers may be lacking in some regards, but they seem to last forever.

For 2d games - an original saturn controller. No contest.
For 3d games - there are too many good ones to choose from.

Hori's Switch Pro controllers are essentially the exact same thing, except they have fantastic d-pads. And you can get them new.

They make the 360 controller redundant.

>What is the actual goat of controllers?
Playstation 1's Dualshock. It had everything.

>build quality
>rumble
>great quality shoulder buttons
>D-pad properly located
>D-pad is designed to be precise due sectioned
>Sticks are symetrical
>Dog nose texture is amazing
There's not a single miss in that controller. So perfect Sony only fuck it up after it with each revision.

>>713487870
>D-pad located in the wrong place
No. But the thmbstick rubber feel and the triggers are great but that's about it.

I'm not in love with clicky buttons, but it's a game changer for d-pads once you get used to needing to press harder. Higher actuation force plus thinner actuation area than membranes completely eliminates diagonal misinputs for a lot of them.
Flydigi d-pads unfortunately seem to have a lot of QC variance, so hopefully yours actually has a pivot.

L M A O

my votes for endgame controllers are:

Wired: Hyperkin DUKE (Repro OG Xbox controller with LB/RB added) or Hyperkin Xenon (Repro X360 controller) (frankly this is an acknowledgement that the X360 controller is probably one of the best controllers ever)
Wireless: Dualshock 4 with the rear button attachment

I'm honestly just waiting for the steam controller 2 at this point, but GOAT doesn't qualify shit that isn't out yet.

fair warning about this controller, the dpad is great but the sticks have a retarded amount of input latency

I've seen people claim they have the problem with Vader 3, Apex 3, Vader 4, and Apex 4, so either it's something that slips through the cracks repeatedly or a smear campaign. There should be a pivot present and it's obvious when there isn't, so you're probably fine.

Symmetrical sticks are shit, if you want to use dpad and buttons just use kb
Sony controllers are made for fucking babies, they're incredibly uncomfortable to hold because they're so small. Are you like a 5"3 handlet or just underageb&

360 is the best hands down

Retarded veganbrain. The d-pad exists exactly to NOT use a fucking keyboard of all things.

>360 is the best hands down
Too many poor quality builds and positioning. Youยดre using it as scapegoat for the dualshock; if you're insecure about it slap a grip for that controller and the "flaw" you think it has is gone for good.

360 has the best actual design hands down, but the QC was garbage, particularly with the cable.

if anything the wired version of the 360 controller is better since it feels lighter. Still, DS1 is better all around but some like to cope

No they don't, lol. I've had to replace like 3 or 4 360 pads due to analog drift and the dpad is a lottery that sometimes results in getting one that can barely even do all 8 directions.

another thing i would change about the f310, it's too loud, all of it, i would put sound dampeners in it and work on engineering the buttons themselves to just make less fucking noise, even the sticks are too loud when you hit the edge

I used to use one of those until I learned that the sticks have a huge deadzone that can't be changed. I use a PS4 controller now.

A good controller's analog sticks and triggers must use Hall effect or tunnel magnetoresistence. Potentiometers have clear disadvantages in durability and precision, and so they shall be considered obsolete.

PS2/3 is still my all-rounder goat. Best feeling for anything with tight actions/inputs like DMC or 2D platformers.

Best d-pad still goes to Saturn's mark 2.

Ham hands spotted. Old PS controllers fit in your hand out of the way. Toward the tips of the fingers, cradled, giving you total mobility and input access. Best for anything with finicky, tight input demands beyond the sloshy, simple movements of console FPS.

Pic related. Ham handers take the controller and smoosh it into their palms in the red area. They try the same with a PS controller and find their fingies bunched up and it triggers their fatso retard brains.

how are the paddles? how easy is it to macro? I just ordered one under the assumption that both are alright and I wanted a controller with programmable paddles for nightreign. my xb1 controller died so I figured I may as well upgrade functionality
