People call anything that isn't Ubisoft, EA, Valve, Sony, MS, Nintendo, or similar size.... indie. Even when said "indie group" in some years pulls more profit from game sales than these big corps.

Recently people were calling Shift Up and Sandfall indie. They made Stellar Blade and Expedition 33. They are not indie in anyway.

Nitroplus is certainly not your typical indie developer, they're not anywhere near a big enough company to describe their games as A and AA, and the game itself isn't the biggest production they could put out either.
