surprise alien pyramid is a good payoff for all that work, isn't it?

I just threw my hands up and said "fuck it I'm stealth bypassing depot A" again on like the 3rd character in a row. I think I intended to go here for more shops but I think I meant to go to the Foundry for a jackhammer and forgot

There's debate if it's actually alien. IMO there's good evidence if you parse the Lemurian logs carefully that it could just be some superbig tech advancements by the corporations that went to Jupiter

I haven't completed the game yet but what I don't understand is why is it underground? If some big corpo went to Jupiter of all places and had succesfull space colonization, what's with all the underground stuff. I know the surface went to hell, obviously, but people have gone to space after that?

only like 40 skill points or so, then buying stealth gear to get to the 80s makes it easy. can probably do it with less. The difficult check to pass is the 60 hacking needed to turn off the turrets. I had to eat Underpie for the last few points to do that. I've done it without turning them off with some tricky tricks but it's a headache.

Enter via wormhole in Depot A underpassage east -> The only real fighting you technically have to do is clearing the room of muties to your left in the southeast corner. The door + bear traps + molotov even at 0 skill level will let you clear that room easily enough though. -> get a key off the muties (can skip this key if you could 80 skill lockpick somehow) -> go to the northeast corner and disable the turrets -> vent your way to the southwest corner and use the ladder to Depot A south -> stealth to the eastern grid exit: if you can't sneak by the junkyard muties and their dogs, can't remove the trap via skill, etc. you can blow it with a grenade and hide or just equip something that can let you tank the mine hit then hide -> grid exit to Depot A east, stealth so the mutant dogs on the other side don't have a chance to see you and get into the control room on the east side of the map -> deal with the bot (isn't any harder than the things in the GMS compound) -> Use the console to unlock the underpass doors -> return the way you came all the way back to the Depot A underpassage East -> Vent over to the underpass doors to reach Depot A underpassage west -> vent over to the room with the 2 bots, 2 turrets, and a camera -> stealth over to the footlocker, grab the keycard -> vent back out and return to Depot A south -> stealth past the junkyard muties to the chainlink fence door on the north side (this is what the key you picked up earlier was needed for) -> stealth past a dog to the panel, open the shutter, grid into Depot A West and get the drill part

ta-da

If you haven't ever gone to DCs and finished the game it might not make as much sense to you yet.

honestly I like the sci-fi imagination that was used for that part. The disc could just be a really really good non-newtonian fluid used in a creative way.

FWIW, my theory is that the whole thing kicked off when mars colony corporation techheads accidentally dee-dooed their science stuff across dimensions. it smoked mars, put Earth in the crosshairs (and set it on its underrail fate), and some jupiter colonies watched as they ascended into post-humans

I don't know what the anon is talking about but the humans in Underrail don't have space stations and never went to Jupiter otherwise they would've all fucked off to another planet instead of going underground when the earth was becoming uninhabitable.

if you enter via scrapper's entrance into Depot A south, you just have to do the same deal with that landmine to get to the ladder for the underpassage.

Even on Dominating I usually get most things done before completing Depot A though. The only thing I've never ever managed to deal with on any playthrough are the Lunatics, and I usually don't even attempt the stuff with the Burrowers. Everything else is always done though. It's a rather recent development of the "nah I don't want to play with these acid dogs anymore" that has me bypassing more of Depot A.

They did both. If you fully investigate the supercorporations you realize old biocorp wasn't even close to being topdawg. The whole "Godmen are extraterrestials" is a lot of Azif's fanwanking and Six's posturing. Not much is known about Bionic Institute, Nucleus Corporation, and Transcendix but a cross-section of what can be gathered about those three could have easily created things like Oculus and Six. The Faceless can very much also be the product of those same things (especially Bionic Institute), and there's plenty to suggest The Cube is a manmade artifact yet it's important enough to Six.
Even Security Agency, which was the looked down-upon of the supercorps in terms of technowizardry, had developed orbital weapons. Mankind having colonies in the solar system were well on the table

the juice is what you use to see, dude

there's no direct evidence of ayy lmaos

I mean outside of the spooky shit that comes from the upside-down psi stuff. those are the ayyylmaos. I'm suggesting one of the T6 accidentally popped a dimensional pimple and that's a big why on where we're at, and the "Godmen" are just cyborged up post-humans who are watching with a little bit of concern. Especially since there's certainly some supergodlike-AI out there. It's very plausible.

Styg just didn't think The Gauntlet through. It doesn't even make sense lore-wise. Gotta be a top-quality gladiator that pulls in crowds in the Arena to be able to compete: no live audience ticket sales, 2 -or- 3 of your top-quality gladiators are killed by something dumb wearing dumb jumpsuits instead of in the bloody carnage of your Arena.

It's just dumb all the way around.

again, if you're asking for a good build: SMGs

1. SMG's already have very low AP cost, decent range accuracy and large magazines and with zero specialization other than having gun skill, they're already excellent plinkers
2. An ability you start with: for the AP price of 3 shots you fire 5 shots. That's a 60% increase AP efficiency
3. The AP cost to use them drops 3% per AP DEX point above 5, like other light weapons (pistols, light melee weapons). ie. At 15 dexterity it's 30% less AP to use them.
4. Craft them with a Muzzle Brake and they fire +2 more rounds per burst. Insane
5. Pick up Full Auto feat and they gain another +2 more rounds per burst. So now you're getting 9 rounds for the price of 3.
6. Get Spec Ops feat and it reduces SMG burst AP down to the cost of just two shots. So for the cost of firing 2 rounds, you actually get 9.
7. Can also craft them with a rapid reloader, dropping their AP cost by another -20%. And it rounds down every time, so a 16 base AP cost becomes 12, etc.

That's it. All you need is to make your own SMG and two feats and you've unlocked ridiculous power. Like 8.6mm Steel Cat firing out 18 rounds for 24 AP. Extreme damage. Oh, and Spec Ops with 2 points specialization has the side benefit of giving 3 turn cooldown flashbangs. Insane.

Machine guns are so stupidly overpowered that I'm not sure it matters. I think my build on dominating looked something like this. All that defensive shit wasn't needed most of the time since everything just fucking died so quickly. Skills can be whatever, 20 stealth is so that you can sneak to the garage near sgs at the start of the game and get the bren gun.

Praetorian has chemical nades useful for dodge builds, jkk has gear that boosts lockpicking and persuation (especially if you have 5 will) and coretech has a decent electronic component selection.

Mmm JKK seems kinda superficial though I dabble with stealth and melee, my lockpick is already 100, and persuasion is a bunk stat.
What's the secret one? Sounds kinda interesting, lest I join Coretech or Praetorians I guess.

There is an old hackerman named Phreak who's fiercely anti-authority and hates mostly everyone but oligarchs in particular, you can work with him if you find a way into his goon cave. I genuinely have no idea how you're supposed to find him without looking it up since both entrances are in unremarkable places and to spot them you need either very high PER or to go to one specific spot with night vision googles turned on and stare at a wall

Have you actually played what you are suggesting? 7 Strength for full auto is an insane waste of stats when you it should be your dump stat. Optimal SMG builds are always versatility DEX builds because none of the core perks require perception (opportunist + suppressive fire is a noob trap). Your damage comes from expertise, which is added AFTER opportunist.

Helpful forum maths I've not seen shared around which is applicable: reducing dr and dt stacks manipulatively. This is really important for smg builds given your individual bullets are quite weak. So you want to pick up expose weakness (which is fine because you're a versatility build), but not spec into it. I've done the calculations an it's around a 3% further reduction if you fully spec 5/5, which is much better spent elsewhere.

not him but on my second playthrough also picked a woman and rushed the gray army base for tp.
The reactivity is that the Russians don't have woman in their army so you can't use the disguise mechanic of this level.
So if you are low level and have no stealth you are fucked.
You can even try to strip to seduce them but they don't care (I think, I can't read russian) and try to kill you anyways.
I had to reload

Off the top of my head
- Grey Army base social stealth is impossible.
- Ethan gives the first TM spell as a freebie to women.
- When doing the Jack Quicksilver quest to get the spy out of prison in Foundry you get an additional dialogue option to pretend to be his wife, without having to pass a persuasion check or having done the Beast quest.
- The rape dungeon escape bit in Foundry can't happen to women. You instead have to lockpick and hack in there to find the evidence.
- Dude has a few comments about having a dream featuring a naked female PC with siphoners. There's also some other small bits here and there, like Briggs initially doubting you when joining Aegis (and potential extra STR check to flex your muscles), or additional dialogue option with Razor about big boobs (PC apparently doesn't have any lol).

You don't need any of that. You won't even remember most of what he say on the video. Just play the game (pick a build from internet if you're lazy to restart and fear to fuck up your own build). The game is not near as complex as most people make it out to be

What is a meaningful choice to you? I will not say the game is not more railroaded than fallout (like 95% of the rpgs are more railroaded than a game designed around choices tbqh) but it's also not elder scrolls level of linearity. The destiny of some factions and characters is still at your hand

TM pairs well with everything as it's basically a cheat code.
If psi is your main focus and you want to use it to kill things you don't really need a weapon, maybe some grenades. You can get a staff or two with psi buffs in expedition though.
One weapon/psi combo that exists is cryostasis shatter. Combine MT with a high damage weapon like spear or sniper and you get some neat synergy. You can turn one enemy in a group into a bomb and set it off with a spear throw/sniper shot and you can shatter tough enemies with cryo induction feat.

I am at the Institute with a Knife/TM/Stealth character. Still have to do Expedition and Heavy Duty. Ain't gonna lie, now that I'm very op the game is getting kinda boring, and I think there's still a big chunk of the game left to finish. Is a Sniper/Pistol build more fun? People say full Psi build are the funniest, but I find playing "mages" in rpg to be pretty gay. It's not my kind of fantasy

Not really. You are not a literal god anymore but it's still perfectly viable on dominating. I would say it's considerably less fun since you have to really pick and choose your schools/abilities with slot restrictions and psi cost penalties and part of the charm of the old psi (besides being stupidly overpowered) was the massive selection of different cool abilities you had at your disposal. S*rbs just hate fun I guess.

Underrail is a solid 20 hours too long and no build is going to fix that.
-Deep caverns are an absolute fucking slog and will probably make you drop the playthrough, but you do learn some cool lore and story stuff
-Expedition is a completely self contained story and the writing in both dialogues and lore/story bits is a massive improvement over the base game, would recommend
-Heavy duty is just pure combat with hardest encounters and highest skill checks in the game by far. Probably the last stop unless you want the cool toys it has (machinegun, giga plasma cannon and an energy pistol to be precise)

Yeah, I'm kinda feeling that. I feel that I should be fighting the final boss at this point, because other than passive feats to make my character even stronger, there's not much more the gameplay offers. I guess is still worth doing Expedition, most people seem to agree, like you, that it has a better story than the main game
